[RELEASE] DStv Now KODI Add-on

I did not announce taking over the project, and it is a good question, and not rude at all. I have not used this forum a lot, hence only three posts.

When the plugin stopped working, I looked through the code, found the issue and notified Matt of the problem and the fix required, which he did. Whilst doing that, I noticed the API calls were out of date, and hence updated them. I also added the new functionality. I posted the update to Matt, but got no response (he is busy), and hence, I posted the updated plugin here.

It is trivial to unpack the zip file and compare it to the last version, and you will see the changes I made. You are welcome to do this and provide any feedback.

As I said, the plugin is provided with no guarantees, this is because, it is not my project. I fixed my version, and thought is would be nice to share my fixes back to the community. You are under no obligation to use them.

I am happy to continue supporting the code, should the community want me to do so.

Just tested the "new" release and it is working fantastic.You all are doing a fantastic job,this is far better then the apk that i used on my Mygica box

I will only be able to test tonight. One question does the epg still work with this new release?
 
So if this DstvNow addon is used within Kodi , Dstv can be watched anywhere in the world without the use of a VPN ?

In theory yes, you may just need to set the X-Forward-IP. However, no-one here is advocating you do anything illegal. Pls abide by the DSTV rules.

Nevermind, after a restart of the stick, it picked up on the live channels ... weird

I do actually find this new version to be about 3x slower than the previous ???

I reinstalled the previous version and immediately it reacted instantly to key presses. im staying on the old version for now.

It may be a caching issues. Your old API calls were likely cached either on your device or ISP. Switching to the new API will cause the requests to be retrieved from the server directly and then cached.

The code is there for all to see, nothing was added that would slow anything down. If anything, the new API calls were quicker for me (although that could also be a caching thing).

You are welcome to use any version you like of course, but fair warning, DSTV will eventually discontinue the V2 API's and your version will stop working at some point.
 
Well I for one am using your new version on my Amlogic s912 with coreelec 9.3 and performance is on par with the last release.

Everything including the new categories is working fine and I appreciate your work very much thank you.
 
Would this kind of add-on for DstvNow be possible for Stremio as a community add-on ?

Would the clear cach option in this add-on then resolve the caching issues?
