[RELEASE] DStv Now KODI Add-on

Addon runs very well with unlocator vpn S.A server try it and it has 7 days free trial its worth a try
 
Is there way to listen to the DSTV music channels as well - my channels only go to +-450 ? Using Kodi on Pi4 with Libreelec
 
Hi, new to the forum as i have only now discovered DStv addon for kodi, anyway whenever i try to log in i get this error, i don't know what it means? Can anyone help? Thanks

Also if its any help, its android tv

The addon needs a widewine enabled device. Install / sideload drm info app to check for at least widevine 3.
 
Hi everyone.

I’ve been a lurker on this thread for a long time, mostly because I personally don’t appreciate people jumping into a hard working thread like this and not doing the legwork themselves. Been using the comments in this thread to piece together my setup and want to thank all of you for your efforts here. I’m not the worlds’ most capable techie, but up to now managed quite ok.

Now, the reason I’m writing is that I’m currently stumped and unable to use the plugin. I’m hoping there is someone here that could help.

Error: bad gateway 502

My setup:
- Pi 4 running Kodi 18 on Libreelec
- OpenVPN with NordVPN
- physical location Germany

Troubleshooting to date
- disabled Pihole running on separate pi 3
- other streaming services work (VRT add-on with Belgian VPN connection with Nord)
- dstv login works with NordVPN to SA using the dstv app on iPhone
- reinstalled plugin from repository

Would appreciate any advice on what other settings or tweaks I can try to make dstv work.

Did it work before? If so, what has changed on the pi4 as far as software / settings?
Have you tried a fresh libreelec / Kodi setup?
 
It’s a fresh install on a new pi 4.

Just logged on to post the entire error message in case it helps:
“Server message: Error performing Irdeto Create Session. Error message is: HTTP 502 Bad Gateway”.

At least, from my reading the X-forward-IP solution is no longer the way?

Could it just be that NordVPN is being picked up by dstv and them blocking it?

Could be - try using nordvpn on a pc / laptop and try streaming from the website.

Irdeto has some link to widevine if I remember correctly, so could sometimes be linked to a device that does not support at least widevine level 3. On an android box it can be tested by installing an app like drm info, not sure about a similar test on the pi4 though...

Streaming from laptop with NordVPN on Firefox and Chrome worked.

As I said, I’m stumped.

Any other ideas would be appreciated... :)

Widevine installed?

Edit:
There is a test video in the slyguy repository in the video section I think. Try playing that and see if it plays.

are you using Zomboided VPN Manager? Other users for other add-ons have had issues with that.
Make sure it's latest version and try reinstalling the .ovpn files

Yes, using zomboided. Have removed the files and even completely reinstalled the add-on, unfortunately still receiving the same error.

Is there another VPN manager that I could try for testing purposes? I tried looking for one, but unfortunately couldn’t really find anything.
 
Now did a complete second install on an old machine I lying around, for testing purposes....
(Installed Libreelec on an intel i3, plus Open VPN manager from Zomboided).
Same problem :(
 
I seem to get this alot, what is the reason therefore?
