[RELEASE] DStv Now KODI Add-on

Awesome work on the addon. Only found it earlier this week when finally my workaround to the google certify issue with an older version of the app stopped working all together.

The addon was working beautifully this morning still but channels do not want to play at the moment, even after updating to latest version. Tried logging out and back in as well. Using Kodi 18.2 on MyGica 495pro tv box.

Anyone have same issue or know how to fix?

Thanks again for the great work.

Any error message?

I believe I did. It was working just fine. Tested playback with Matt's stream playback app on the repo and no problems with streaming. Also updated my kodi to 18.3 with no difference.

Had similar problem before and it was a widewine issue. Go to addons --> My add-ons and make sure VideoPlayer Inputstream --> InputStream Adaptive is there

If not this is how I fixed it (there might be another shorter way but this worked for me on android):

1) Uninstall dstv now and say yes when asked to remove the settings
2) Install older version (I installed version 0.9.1)
3) Open dstv now --> settings --> playback --> Install Widewine DRM
4) Install the latest version 0.9.7 and try again....

So I ended up wiping my kodi several times trying a couple of things that did not pan out. Also received errors with the fix suggested. Just happy it is working again.

I do notice that the channel numbering does not pull through from the backend for the IPTV playlist although I have the synchronized channel groups with backend(s) setting selected under kodi pvr & live tv settings. Not sure if this is a kodi 18.3 issue as it was working in 18.2 or if this has to do with the latest update.

Thanks again. Keep up the good work.

0.9.5 just uploaded

New add-on setting for setting the Inputstream quality.
Find it under Addon Settings > Playback > Set Inputstream Quality.

Sort by Episode when listing seasons.
This makes Kodi show the episode number and puts in correct ordering.

The big feature is support for Matts IPTV Merge plugin.
This allows very easy EPG support via Kodi's TV menu.

All you have to do is install his IPTV Merge plugin:
https://www.matthuisman.nz/2019/02/iptv-merge-kodi-add-on.html

1) Go into IPTV Merge add-on settings and click "Setup IPTV Simple Client".
2) Go to Playlist > Add Playlist > Addon > DStv Now
3) Go to EPG > Add EPG > Addon > DStv Now
3) Press "Merge Now"
4) Wait 30 seconds
5) Done.

You will now have full epg & kodi tv support via Kodi "Tv" menu (see images below)

Note:
DStv epg does not return EPG for the current day for some reason.
https://www.dstv.co.za/guide/ (won't show anything for today)

So, the EPG will start working from the day after you run it.
IPTV Merge will automatically grab new epg data every 24 hours.

Once again, huge props to Matt Huisman for his work.
IPTV Merge add-on makes it so easy to add EPG support to a plugin.

If you like his work, you can shout him a coffee via the Paypal link at the bottom of his post below:

Thanks for the awesome app!! Does it work with any PVR addons?

Go to Settings\PVR & Live TV\General\ make sure "use channel numbers from backend" and "use channel order from backend(s)" is enabled. Working on Kodi 18.3 on android and Libreelec

I haven't used Dstv Now in Kodi for a while. Is Catchup working or only live channels?

Hi guys. I am getting a weird error when trying to download the zip file on PC. I normally download on PC and then import into Libreelec on my Raspberry pi. When I keep on trying to download it says network error. I have tried right click and save as file option as well but still network error. did any of you experience this before ?

Good Morning Guys,

Hope you can assist. I have installed the lastest add on, but I just get the play icon on the top right and then nothing on the live channels. No error appears. I then read previous posts on widevine and installed Matt's test tool but cannot get the widevine with DRM test stream to play, the other test streams play plerfectly.

I have even tried hitting the "Install Widewine DRM " button, but nothing happens.
I have also tried totally uninstalling Kodi (18.3) and starting from scratch, but I get the same results.

Is there any thing that I am missing to get this working?

You can always try and manually download and install inputstream adaptive from github from Here. Then restart Kodi for changes to take effect and try the test stream from Matt's test tool. Be sure to select the "inputstream adaptive - dash with widevine" stream. If the test video plays you should also be successful with the add-on. Hope this helps

Read post 193. The Kodi install/version must include Inputstream Adaptive.

Edit: I should refresh before posting

Good day, I don't know if I'm doing something wrong. I installed the add-ons etc. I log in with my account but only 5-channels show up under live TV. I can't get the other channels to display.. any help please?
