Anyways, I am happy this plugin works now, but a bit miffed I can't figure out why the EPG is not working.

The work really was already done by Matt. So all credit to him.

Reading between the lines, this will work on Android, unsure if it will work on windows and linux kodi installs. Which is the reason he has not released an update yet.

Unsure whether I should reach out to him on how to fix the epg or not, really not sure how he will respond so for now at least I can watch the streams. Feels like the addon used to be, except it lets you know if you reach the stream limit now.

Come to think about it, on android, I can switch streams fine if I stop current stream, then select new stream, but on my PC (OSX), that failed with the stream limit reached and I had to kill kodi to fix that. Maybe thats the issue they working on.

I tested it on a Kodi Install on Win11 .... works fine. When you get the limit message when you switch channels you just have to wait ±2min before you select the next channel ... no need to kill Kodi. ... I sometimes get it where it switches immediately ... weird tho.

Will also look into that EPG issue when I get a chance.

What I like about their IPTV is no unnecessary channels, by default - only UK, US, DStv, a few Ireland channels, and C+ Africa stuff (French ).

UK, US, DStv are all broken up individually in separate categories as well.

Must be related to something in the main addon? .... Kodi doesn't recognize it ...

What was the url for your EPG that you had going a few months ago? ... I suppose you did try your own?

What is the use case - more than 4 TVs in your house / or plus mobiles / browsers, a lot of devices to watch DStv, whenever you want where depending on circumstances.

Yet just 1 stream.

Obviously decoders can have give you 2 connections, and then you have 1 stream to play with.

Don't think the DStv app is unwatchable.

In the past when I have added devices, by deleting a device on the actual DStv app, it didn't seem that the actual "so many per 6months action" was enforced.

As soon as we release the addon and say "works only on android" we will get 100s of users saying it doesn't work on X,Y,Z

So waiting on trying to resolve the reason why non-android playback seems to appear as a different device on every stream

Your effort much appreciated - even if I currently don't have DSTV access. Should that change for whatever reason, this addon will be of value to me.

Nope. The servers serving the content now keeps track of the streams and rejects a 2nd concurrent stream

That is Widevine response to something that happened on DSTV's side. Now to figure out what was not properly implemented on DSTV's side, then we are home dry.

IPTV Mege does not recognize the dstv addon.

Hey, yeah.

Its on https://tinuva.github.io/epg/guides/za/dstv.com.epg.xml

Another copy that the plugin uses (and is valid actually) is https://i.mjh.nz/DStv/za.xml.gz

The issue is, there were changes with the iptv.merge addon, and the dstv addon wasn't updated to still be seen as a valid addon input to the iptv.merge addon. I just haven't fully figured out what changes are required.
