I have a Mecer 2000VA UPS that needs to have batteries replaced

What batteries does this take?

Where can I get replacement batteries from?

Maybe slightly of topic...why is that one cant use the same gate motor 12v battery on a garage door motor (so i was told)? I noticed garage door motor batteries are far more expensive than gate motor batteries?

Seems its different sizes (garage door ones being physically smaller)? It should work, if there is space to fit it.

So the "recharger" found on the garage motor, will it be able to charge a bigger battery as per your pic you posted?

It should. It will just take longer to charge if discharged far, but then again, it will take longer to discharge to the same %, as long as it's all lead acid batteries.

If you are discharging your garage door motor so much that you are worried about charging times, you open your door way too often, or you power is off for days.

The garage door motor batteries never last especially when you need it most at load shedding times hence the actual question is what solution does one have to prevent this from happening. One solution put in bigger battery and test to see longevity. The gate motor battery im think of is also cheaper to replace. What are your thoughts on this?

Just connect another battery (same ah) in parallel. Will take twice as long to charge, but you will have twice the ah.

Or your charging rate is not optimum due to a damaged charge controller and the batteries are constantly undercharged. That you only find out when no Eskom power is available. When that happened to one of my DC Blue motors I replaced the charger board and fitted a small digital voltmeter to each motor.
Now I can observe at a glance what the battery status (while load shedding) or my charging voltage is (while AC power is available.

To circumvent the high prices of the 24 V batteries for the garage door motors I just take two 12V 7/8/9Ah ones and tape them together with Duct Tape. The DC Blue batteries are on the rail, outside the motor, anyway.
I get the two 12v8Ah batteries at almost half the price of the 24V dedicated version.

Look at replace with a larger capacity battery (first ensure it fits inside casing of course) ....36 Ah maybe

the garage door ones are usually the small little 1.4Ah in series if it is a 24V motor, when new it should operate several times imo, if you need more maybe opt for 2 x 2.3AH instead. BUT check what you have currently, you could have a 12V motor.

Just fitted 2 x 12 v 4amp.batteries to garage motor...will test to see impact over time. I was told the batteries will swell up because the charger is designed for 2 x 3amp batteries...
Is this true?

BS nothing will happen.

I fitted 2x 12V 8Ah batteries as I could get them for two-thirds of the price of the 24 V dedicated battery fitted to DC Blue motors and have more than double the capacity.
