Replacement batteries for Mecer 2000VA UPS

Slightly O/T but still related to Mecer UPS...

What are the 2x RJ 11/45 ports on my 2000VA unit used for?
It talks about surge protection but then connecting the port to your PC ??!

Is this an alternative to using the hideous , woefully short USB 1.0 cable to monitor the USP via router / PC /Laptop RJ 11/45 port instead?
 
will 1x 24v battery also do the trick if you can find 1 at a decent price? I'm thinking yes.

I notice that both the 1000 and 2000 models take 2x batteries, hence require 24v to operate.

Their inverters are different though.
The 720w is a 12V system, the 1440w needs 24V.
 
I currently have 2 of these ups units as well which need new batteries. I’ll be replacing the batteries with much bigger batteries and just drilling holes for wires and placing them outside the box (all will go in a custom box). My plan is to get 50ah or higher battery (price dependent) and then hook up to a bigger charger as well. That way I can hook up something bigger or more items. Possibly my tv as one of these items. Then at a later stage just do the same with the other UPS.

my ONT and routers are already powered by the mini ups which works perfectly. Never had them die on me yet and suspect I can run about 6-7 hours without power.

In future I’d also like to hook up some solar panels. Eventually having built a setup which can save me some bucks when there is power (and light during the summer)
 
Not sure if anyone is still active from this post but I need to replace my batteries on my Mecer 2000VA Line Interactive UPS and have no idea how to or where it’s located ‍♀️ Please help a blondie with some guidelines!

Inside.... probably taking up most of the internal space.

Assuming Mecer UPS is pretty standard so this method (or something similar) should work.

Are there any brand of replacement battery that should be avoided?

Or let me ask which brands of 12V 9AH is recommended ?
