Replacement batteries for Mecer 2000VA UPS

I'm thinking of buying a mercer 2000VA and have a question on noise. Does it have a internal fan and how is the noise levels?

It does have an internal fan that is rather noisy if you have it in the same room you working in.

I 5KVA is in the next room and I know loadshedding is over when it sounds like its going to take off.

For the record, the Mecer ME-3000-VU 3000VA / 1800W UPS uses 4x 7Ah batteries in parallel and series (24V 14Ah).

Had to perform a battery swap on one of those not too long ago.

I have one and it does have a noisy fan. I disabled the alarm on it though as that was just too much. I've gotten use to the fan so that doesn't bother me as much anymore.

Will these https://www.geewiz.co.za/batteries/...h-lead-acid-battery-gates-alarms-etc-new.html be a better alternative to lead acid for the Mecer 2000VA UPS? I have seen that lithium is possibly not an alternative for usage in UPS's - can anyone confirm that?
I believe the longevity of the lithium is superior (life cycle >2,000) to lead acid but no expert on batteries so advice will be appreciated. I'd pay the extra for longevity over the extra 2ah but if that extra 2ah will give me a longer up time during the 2 or so hours of loadshedding then the cheaper cost of lead acid's may be the winner!

Thanks in advance!

Hey you can't series those batteries. The 2000va need 2 x batteries to make 24v. Lithium would be the ideal way to go to get better battery life and cycles. There other brands that can be connected in series or parallel.

Stock atm is a bit of a issue for most of the places but some is getting in soon.

There is also the Securi-Prod battery it states it can do both connections but I have not done it yet but there might some that did it here > https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/thr...od-lithium-lifepo4-battery-12-8v-7ah.1194304/

Agreed.

The Blue Nova batteries can be run in series if you get 2 with the same batch number (or something like that, cannot exactly recall what the battery warning sticker says), which is why I go to Communica to buy the batteries if I plan to run in series, even though it costs more, so I can compare the batch number and get matching ones.

I have this (Mecer 2000VA) and if I recall, you get used to the noise. It is really not much but then we have a kid in the house. :p

Can vouch for that. It's in my home office and I got used to it already. Sure it's not pleasant, but nothing earphones can't fix. It has served me well since WFH started and I installed 2 8ah Lithium batteries in it which lasts all the stages of load shedding.

How did you disable the alarm ? I see it's a little speaker mounted on the circuit board ?

I just remove these little speakers with pliers. I tried prestick before but I wanted the sound gone completely. Obviously this voids warranty.

Mine makes zero sound other than the fan. There is also no way of getting the prestick out again so also void on the warranty, but mine is long past that anyway.

I'll prestick the irritating fcker. Sure my warranty is long gone. The batteries are also fcked, so i must go and buy new ones. Found a place here R175 a battery. Deltec.

What's the consensus regarding this?

I have a RCT 2000va which is all but redundant on account of shot batteries. I'm assuming the RCT is basically a rebranded Mecer, so the question stands, has anyone replaced the lead acid batteries with lithium ion equivalents?

I see no one replied but I would like to know if you found answers elsewhere.
I am in the same position as you are and I don't have enough knowledge about charging.
Meaning if you do find an alternative battery (Lithium/Gel) do you use the same charger that is inside the UPS.

Nope. A did a little digging and came up mostly empty handed.

So I ordered some replacement batteries for my RCT2000VA but Viewpower interface shows my old batteries at 100% capacity. It behaves like a UPS with completely dead batteries but could it be something else? Like a faulty processor?
