replacement car advice

How come?

I got one of them as a rental and it has to do with the way the doors are shaped, they sort of cupped at an angle and very sharp at the end. So you keep on banging your head (face), shoulders and chest against it, it actually can cut your face open, and as in the link it can even take out an eye.

I had to return it.... Terrible design, not safe at all.

Anyone else get attacked by your doors?

Seems like the Renault Sandero Stepway though, not the Duster?

Just a FYI.

I drive one of the Audi quattro models. About 2000 km after my previous tyre change one of the tyres got damaged on the side wall and was unrepairable so I only replaced the one tyre. It might not have been optimal but it didn't cause any damage and more importantly, it didn't cost me 20k.

This IS a problem if you have a on board TPMS system like in the BMWs which doesn't actually read pressures but rather rotations.
Not always. I'm not sure about BMW etc. but with Audi you go into your car's software and save the settings when the tyres are at the correct pressure. This goes for both types of monitoring.

It's not a 4x4 issue as the vehicles the OP is referring to and an afford are not 4x4, they are AWD.

These have a Haldex clutch type set up which is basically an open diff.
Not all AWD systems are Haldex though. Audi has a few different types for their Quattro vehicles.

That's not the duster...

Crowley, 2000 km is still new.

Yes, very few have Haldex, but they'll have a system doing the same.

AWD is different to 4x4....

All Honda's are good ones
in general, I agree

As I have stated in my original post, this one looks like a one-owner vehicle, and if it has books with verified FSH, it will probably last well past 350,000kms.
this is the key

Hey look! I'm a poet and I didn't even know I was rhyming that time :P

On paper, the Renault Kadjar 1.5dci is just an upmarket Duster. None in my town just now. Do they feel the same to drive?

Where is the paper you got that from? Because it is not. The Kadjar is a much better Qashqai, remember Renault really put an effort since they have bad reps, so similar cars, one Nissan and the other Renault, you will always find the Renault is better.

Google tells me the 2017 Diesel automatic 2wd Duster and Kadjar have the same engine and EDC gearbox and are similar in size and weight. The Qashqai has same engine but CVT gearbox (not my cup of tea).
I have driven a Duster and accept it as a budget car.
Just wondering how the diesel Kadjar compares for NVH?

Nobody mentioned BMW Active Tourer 220d. They seem to have come down in price a lot recently. It would need to have the 16 inch wheels to meet my comfort needs. And I might have to drive like Miss Daisy to get 6 L / 100km!
