Would like your opinion on this, S4 died insurance is paying out R5000.00 for it what would you consider a good replacement at that payout price?

That sounds like an idea, has anyone used the Huawei brands and your views compared to Samsung. Did see a few P9 lite around the price range

Nice chunk of change for the S4, you wouldn't have gotten that if you sold it. The Xiaomi is one of the better options for new.

Need the number of that insurance company. R5k is a damn good payout. You'll struggle to get R2k if sold private ly even if brand new.

Either go cheap Chinese like Xiaomi for R3k and use the change to get the wife an Airfryer or add a few quid and get an S7.

Huawei is good but it's still Chinese. No different from the other Chinese vendors.

2hnd S6 can be had for R4-5k or just get another S4, R1500 on Gumtree. I went from an Lg G4 to the S4 and I'm loving it, nice and small/light/cheap/fast, only drawback is the camera but I have a full size camera if I need a good shot.

Why not get a Galaxy S5 LTE? That would be a great go between S4 and S6.

S5 had an awesome display, by far the best HD1080P Display I have ever seen to this day.

You can also look into the Galaxy Note 4 if you don't mind large phones.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 or Huawei P9 Lite. Both will give you change from that R5k cash you have and both are in my house after my wife and I both sold our S5's. Don't buy an S6. They are rubbish with battery life.
