"Reserve" tank

Ok, we were all wrong and you are most epic and knowledgeable on BMW's so we all conced.....

Actually no, fsck it, it is not a standard OEM fitted part... 1989 BMW E30 318is didn't have one, 1991 E30 316 didn't have one...

yes BMW clearly made a mistake, a guy who has no proof or evidence he actually stripped an e30 wants to question what BMW says

please, show us the pics of the BMWs you stripped, oh wait, convenient, you don't have any

Erm...

So, there is an additional tank placed above the normal one, but it's not a reserve tank as the system is gravity fed and it will - obviously - be the last to fill and first to drain. So you're all wrong. :p

it is a reserve tank if the specs show 50l and that "gravity" tank takes an additional 20 or so litres

Do you have the telephone conversation recorded and verified by an independent 3rd party?

If not, then its just a random statement by you (like my claim to have tripped 2 e30's is) that has no evidence to back it up.

EXCEPT of course, there are multitudes of posts on the internet with photos that support my claim that there isn't a reserve tank, and there is a complete lack of content on the internet to support yours.

Ok, first bit of proof, but that seems to refer very specifically to the 320i Shadowline spec model... which was not very common at all in this country.

lol, more proof that pictures won't convince these people

you can call them yourself and verify it, thats why I gave you the number or call any other agent, I am confident they will all say the same thing.

I'm not going to rely on third party links. If people wish to discredit my third party links, then I won't attach credit to any others provided.

I called BMW, they described it as a reserve tank, get me a BMW agent that will disagree.

Remember Fazda is convinced there is no tank behind the backseat.

Haven't tried, couldn't be arsed to phone an agent to confirm something that I KNOW.

He knows theres no tank behind the seat, no point pasting pictures to convince him otherwise.

Going through that realOEM site... it is very clear that this "extra" tank (and its not a reserve in the slightest) was very specific to certain models....

Ahh damnit, yes.. Shadowline is the wrong moniker for a normal 2 door model..... sorry about that.

Ok, so which BMW SPECIFICALLY did you ask Atlantic about when you queried the "reserve" tank..

Because clearly they must have asked you model and year, because they couldn't give you an answer without knowing those 2 small bits of information.

so you are acknowledging there is the possiblity an e30 may be fitted with a tank directly behind the seat?

give BMW a call, you already don't believe the conversation I had with them, so speak to them yourself.

I have never said its not a possibility, just that it was not standard OEM fitted across the board (which you seem to want to say it is)... Its a very "non standard" setup for the e30's in this country.

so you have done a survey on all the e30s in this country or are you basing it on the two you apprarently had?
