"Reserve" tank

so you have done a survey on all the e30s in this country or are you basing it on the two you apprarently had?

Have you?

Or are you just trying to push the burden of proof onto someone else now...

I have worked on a fair number of e30's, stripped 2 of them completely... became VERY good mates with the guys who stripped e30's for a living and sold the parts...

so you are acknowledging there is the possiblity an e30 may be fitted with a tank directly behind the seat?

give BMW a call, you already don't believe the conversation I had with them, so speak to them yourself.

Dude, you spoke to some bored parts salesman who probably hasn't ever seen the part in question & just wanted to get end the conversation with someone clearly not intent on buying anything. There's clearly a discrepancy in specification between models; it's obviously not standard on all E30 derivatives. And it's still not a reserve tank.

It'd actually be mildly interesting to see if your car has it fitted though...

I don't have a problem with that at all, and HS has posted diagrams of the extra tank, which is only on certain models, and is NOT a reserve tank, but one that simply provides extra capacity for a gas guzzler.

This whole argument started because you called it a reserve tank, which it clearly is not.

I think in e30 BMWs there is a seperate reserve tank behind the back seat, infact I am certain there is a seperate reserve tank behind the seat.

Also one of you photos would also be nice..;) :p

I can say the same, and I still own an e30.

Which year and model if you please?

I would like to see if yours has this "reserve" tank as standard spec.

I've owned

1991 e30 318i 2 dr- pics of sale ad on http://www.e30clubsa.co.za/forum - car stripped after it was sold
1989 e30 325i sport- pics of sale ad on http://www.e30clubsa.co.za/forum/
1992 e30 325i 2dr- pics on same forum somewhere

Currently own 1991 evo 1 325is- posted a pic in the rare car thread.

I also know Ederees Achmat, his father races on Killarney and had an e36 race car- car's chassis was made by BMW specifically for racing purposes

Also the owners of Autowizards own multiple M3s, e30s etc and my cars are stored at their premises. I can go on about other e30s friends have and deal with but none verifiable here.

I also supply turbo manifolds specifically designed for e36 conversions in e30s. I export these manifolds to the UK and I'm about to send another one tomorrow.

1991 e30 318i 2dr. I'm assuming Manual, and manufactured in January : http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?model=AF52&mospid=47254&hg=16&fg=05 (No additional Tank)

1989 e30 325i sport (same assumptions as above) : http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?model=1412&mospid=47283&hg=16&fg=05 (Has the additional tank)

1992 e30 325i 2dr (Same assumptions as above) : http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?model=1111&mospid=47263&hg=16&fg=05 (also shows the additional tank)

What this tells me is that the additional tank was an option on the 325i at the very least, but that it wasn't standard spec, even on the 325i.

yeah so you are probably right and I'm wrong

end of discussion okay, hope you sleep well tonight

Well you are wrong... but we were also wrong to a degree.

There is the possibility for an additional tank behind the back seat (where we were wrong sort of)....

Its never been a standard feature on all E30's, and its NEVER been a reserve tank.. (where you were wrong)

Saturnz, oh my &^*(^&* sack.

I've been reading this thread for the past 2 days, get off your effing high horse and just show us some godforsaken photos.
Otherwise stfu, seriously. This could all be put to rest if you just took the 5 minutes you used to "phone your sources" to take the damn photos and put them on the forum.

Seriously.

pics were already shown by other users, you can call BMW and verify what I say

who are you that I have to prove myself to you? are you important, I've stated my case, accept it or don't.

ggthnxbye
