Retaining Your SA Citizenship

Seems like posters that do not hold dual citizenship have a different view to those that do.
I was born in Finland and my kids were born in SA. I never took SA citizenship but had my 3 kids registered in Finland when they were born.
This automatically gave them Finnish citizenship even though they were SA citizens due to their birth right in SA. They have held 2 passports for many years and never applied for permission at Home Affairs.
They have been living in the UK for 11 years and have recently applied and renewed their SA pp's in London. No sweat at all. Simple as that.

The application to retain SA citizenship only applies to adults over 18 who are voluntarily taking citizenship in another country.
It doesn't apply to children.

I have both a UK and RSA passports.
I was born in the UK in 1950, but have lived in Southern African countries for ~62 of my 66 years. I moved from the-then Rhodesia, to SA many years ago (~ 1978), and much later I applied for, was was granted, SA Citizenship mainly so that I was able to cast a vote in the 1994 universal franchise elections in SA. I keep both passports valid.
One never knows what this current government will do :wtf:
