of 10 kmph...

I pretty much walk that fast.

Is that really reasonable? I went 15 according to my GPS, which is 20 on the car's speedo (yea, huge discrepancy I know...) and I have no problem stopping in a few metres. My car almost stalls at 10 without working the bloody clutch.

Got two warnings already, for speeding (going 15) in the complex. And the best part is the common property where I'm 'speeding' is a huge piece of open land where you can see for at least 10 metres to your side and all the way to the other side of the complex in front of you...

You are in the wrong place to complain about things like this. You should have realized this by now.

The body corporate / caretakers of places like that often have nothing better to do with their lives than enforce petty rules and regulations. It's their world.

Move. Or carry around a large and very visible .44 Magnum like Pitbull.

Either option will sort you out.

Easy solutions here. Either move or don't speed? Most cars will do 10KM/H when idling in 2nd gear. Unless you live in an estate, why is 10KM/H a problem?

How do they actually prove that you over-sped ? If not with a camera, tell them to get lost !

The Normal walking speed is 4.8km/hour.

Were you speeding? If you were, suck it up.

If you were not, get a car cam with GPS and dispute with Trustees and get them to prove that you were speeding.

Esquire sell a car cam with gps. My wife got a ticket out in the country. The carcam provided the proof, contrary to her denials, that she was speeding.

Well he admitted that he was speeding so chances are they have something pretty accurate.

 I'd move out of there very quickly just for the bad feeling of paying willingly big brother to monitor my speed.

Other solution: buy an automatic !

How do they tell the difference between 10km/h and 15km/h?

Are you seriously going 15km/h and they are complaining about it?

Can't be that difficult sticking to the limit, especially in a communal area with kids running around - it's the right thing to do.

Ask them to prove that you were exceeding the speed limit. An opinion of an observer is insufficient proof.

Don't take this to mean that it's okay to drive like a maniac in the complex. If you do I have no sympathy whatsoever for you. But if you were driving at 15-20KM/h that's still a reasonable speed.

I asked for proof and they have yet to come back to me, this after threatening legal action. And yes, I go 15kmph always(still). They have no cameras (that I'm aware of) and this is purely the result of observers (or observer).

No kids running around, and no pets either. Like I said it's a huge open space. Going 10 while living at the other end of the complex is insanely slow.

And wrt the running in the complex, probably same as in Brisbane, where they fined cyclists for going over 10kmph :P

But yes, I'm in the process of moving to a sane place.

Pretty sure my automatic will idle to way over 10kph. It does gather quite a bit of speed without giving it any gas on an even road. Haven't really thought of it. In this situation I'd just be on the brakes all the way. Sucks if you stay on the far side of the complex though.

EDIT: Come to think of it my previous car, manual, would go way over 10 on idle in 2nd gear. You'd have to stay in 1st.

I would love to see you at an AGM. Are you an owner or a tenant?

Fly into the complex at 500km/h

Iirc speed cameras can't calculate that speed.

Problem solved.
