Review: Office:mac 2008

I've been using this for about 3 weeks now and I'm finding it unbearable!
Entourage looks nicer but is down on functionality. Before you could go to a previous message while having a message open, you can do that in 2008.

Using Word is like pulling teeth, I'm using a three column page and inserting pictures into it is giving me an ulcer. Excel is also driving me insane. No longer can you click the graph button and then customise it for your own needs. No no! You have to click the data you want and then the graph type you want. The problem is, finding the options to edit this graph (because it's never how you want it) requires a PHD.

All in all they've dumbed the whole experience down for mongoloids but at the end of the day the mongoloids are fine using textedit so I don't get why they did this.

All in all: pretty but annoying so much so that I'm about to go back to 2004.

Since iWork 08 came out I've barely touched Office 2004 so there's little point in my upgrading to the latest version.

I've also been trying to use Office 2008, and all I can say is that it's a good advertisement for iWork 08.

I use iWork '08.

Numbers is not quite as powerful as excel, but it looks pretty and does everything I need at the same time.

I might consider buying Office 2008, but I want the 30-day test drive before I lay the cash out.

Is there possibly more to this review? It doesn't actually say anything about the product!

AFAIK the docx is a major pain the the behind, MS is still not complaint with the open doc XML format they were supposed to support with Office 2008 for mac.
I've seen people having major problems with OF'08. A doc was created on OF'08 on a mac, sent to another user on a mac also with OF'08 but the second user is unable to edit or save the docx file. Permissions are correct but unable to touch the file in any way.

Hi, I've bought and been using Office 2008. Haven't really had compatibility issues as I've set the option to save as Office 2004 (fro Mac) or 2003 (for Win) in the preferences. I'm also an iWork user. I prefer Pages over Word, but Excel over Numbers. I'm a heavy Excel user and found that the interface and functions are not as intuitive in Numbers as it is in Excel. I've used Excel for years, but I'm looking forward to the next version of Numbers as I know they will improve the specific issues I have with it. My take on Office 2008: not really a to die for update. I still have Office 2004 loaded and still go back to use it from time to time. What does this say? Word 2008, improves the creation of blocks and smart graphics, which is missing in Pages. This could be a useful tool. If you don't have Office 2004 and still on V.x, get 2008, else stay where you are until there are a few updates. Word and Excel are also not stable, but then again this is Microsoft.
