Hi,
I am using a 8ta sim given by a friend. Its has the 60 + 60 bundle activated.
It was rica'ed with my friends details.
He went overseas.
I got the following doubt regarding the sim.
If I loose or damge the sim for some reason, will i be able to do sim swap.
What do i need to provide to do the sim swap?
Will it be better if i change the RICA to my name?
What do I need for this?

You won't be able to get a sim swap under somebody elses name.

What you are doing currently is illegal according to the RICA act and you can probably get prison time... I realize just how outrageous that sounds.

Don't lose or damage it and use the remaining data out in bliss, or get your own contract. You probably won't have much like transferring it...

Can I not transfer the rica to my name?
He left his ID copy with me if in case it helps.

With Vodacom we don't check the rica details when doing a simswop. If you want to change the details the other person needs to be in store with you, you can't just take an ID.

Hi kotesh

You will be able do a "change of customer". You will need to go into the store with a proof of address as well as your ID, your friends ID and a signed letter from him stating the situation and that he confirms that he has given the SIM to you and advises us to RICA the SIM onto your name.

Thanks 8ta. I will get a letter from him.

No problem kotesh :)

If you have any problems at the store, advise them they need to call their 187 helpdesk for further guidance as this is not an everyday process. You can quote us ;)

That is a real positive response. From someone who knows what is going on.
