Road Accident

LOL. It will absolutely affect your premiums as your risk factor is affected. If you are hi-jacked it's not your fault either. Hell, majority I think of claims are for things that are "not the insured's fault".
Where do you get this from?

Sadly it sometimes does, my premium increased after my wife had a fender bender with my previous car, wasn't her fault at all.
That's strange, but I guess it depends on previous claims and size of damage. I was mostly using OP's as context which seemed small. Also maybe because someone else was driving your car? Not Santam right?

If my insurance does that I would probably tell them I will be shopping around.

Yip, Santam. Was the third claim she had over a 4 year period, first was her fault, then an old bat that should've kicked the bucket years ago, and then a **** with an Isuzu that forgot how sht his brakes was.

Luckily that's now years ago and we're back to low premiums again.

Point is, in some cases it can. In the OP's case he's just being a dumbarse though, that's what you have insurance for. In my case the increases was also negligible amounts anyway. Not enough to deter us from making valid claims.

Mel is female with some Karen self righteous vibes, its ok to be wrong Mel, claim from your insurance and apologise to the person you crashed into

Paying for insurance and not claiming is like paying your TV licence and then not watching Generations...

By the way, they have insured against the alternatives.
