Rocketnet - feedback?

My experience with Rocketnet so far.

Vumatel (Britelink) installed my CPE into my house yesterday morning, but the yellow PON light was flashing which they indicated is normal and can take some time to change to steady lit. In the afternoon received my Rocketnet router, after the driver sent me a please call me when he arrived at the gate.

At around 17:00 I received a confirmation email from Vuma indicating I am now connected and they provided me with the FSAN nr. Yellow flashing light changed to solidly lit.

Phoned Rocketnet, provided them with this FSAN nr and shortly thereafter received the username and password for the router. Entered it and all good. Did a quick speed test via wifi and got good results on a 20/20 package as per attached. Will monitor it but so far so good.

Quick question, although its uncapped, is there any way we can see/track our data usage?

Good day

Thank you for the feedback, this is highly appreciated and should you ever require assistance please do contact us on 087 610 0500. Please note that we also have a live chat platform that can be found on www.Rocketnet.co.za

Alternatively please do send an E-mail to [email protected] and we will have a tech respond ASAP.

With regard to tracking clients usage unfortunately we do not monitor clients usage however we have exciting news as we are on the verge of implementing a new system that is customer friendly and will allow you to monitor/track your usage.

Kind regards

Hi Ronald.

Do myself and electrofreeze not qualify for any further support?

It feels like you have completely skirted the issues being raised here and have now just elected to ignore us.

Please can we have feedback?

Good day please may you and electrofreez send an Email to [email protected] with your address as we have our head engineer working with Vunmatel.

As soon as we can confirm both addresses/ areas we can then proceed with Vumatel

My sister is on a Metrofibre line and was complaining about terrible performance in the evenings. On Saturday I ran a single thread ftps download from my 10Gb/s seedbox with only me plugged into router and wifi turned off

I only just pulled up the file now to see how bad it was

This is on a 100/100 line

The points are instantaneous speeds (1 second tally) and the red trendline is a 2 minutes average speed

My dude @Ronald-RocketNet , this is clear shaping. The recording started at 17:13:00. You can clearly see the "off thread" of my ftps download (which is on a randomized port every time I reset my seedbox) is being shaped to exactly 1mb/s, and at exactly 19:00 the shaping eases a little. The 100mb/s burst near the start is me loading up fast.com to do a speedtest. It showed 73mb/s or something to that effect. Nobody else was on the line until the next morning when I restarted the wifi.

I only realize how bad it is now going back and looking at it because the 90GB download from the seedbox was finsished when I looked at it again on Saturday morning around 10:00 and I figured she must be imagining it; so the line must have run well at the wee hours of the morning

Not that it helps anyone from 5PM-12AM.

When I'm there tormorrow I will record the same for a Friday night (if I dont forget)

Satruday night Rocketnet.png

and so the plot thickens another night of poor speeds as it now looks like it is indeed shaping that is causing this so you must be out of bandwidth
if it is indeed shaping please let us know so we can move on to someone where we get what we pay for

Hi All

Please note that we don’t shape our network in any way or form, I would like to welcome you to come through to our NOC and we would be more than happy to show you all the rules, access routers, core routers, and show you live and real-time port utilisation.

We have nothing to hide and I’m sure there is more to this issue that we need to investigate, I would like to please ask that you log a ticket for these issues so that we can resolve them.

Please mark the ticket Attention: Richard Mayhew

Looking forward to helping all of you and sorting out all your Speedtest issues.

Regards,

this is not about the speedtest issue it is about getting 1mbps on a 100/100 fiber that use to work properly before roughly the 10th of august and you not knowing there is problems on your network
browsing is just as bad with pages loading slowly or not at all
and we have tickets open and nothing is happening

edit: speeds are totally down the crapper again

Hi @Ronald-RocketNet, I have sent an email in respect of PM

I will be going to the property this afternoon and will record from about 3.30PM/4PM onwards. Same test as before, random port, single thread, encrypted datagram, ~120 GB download, 13 files.

I'm going out tonight so commentary/graphs will probably have to wait until tomorrow. I will provide links to raw data tomorrow too

I had no issues in the beginning, but this is it. Cool Ideas here I come.

So 2 months ago my account was cancelled, no issue, my fault, I reactivated it, choose the 20/20Mb package so that I don't have to pay the R500 activation fee again. You would think that they will wave that R500 fee cause you were with them but no, so choose the 20/20 to avoid that

2018-08-07 Balance due 1,074.03 - WTF is that? Website states R805 for 20/20
This months bill is R705 and I see Apollo 20/2 (Home Uncapped Fibre 20/2Mbps)

Please explain WTF happened to the 20/20 ? Or rather not, can't care less.

I have placed a block on the debit order, you will not be paid again. Ever. Cheers

Good day

Please provide us with a ticket reference number and we will contact you ASAP.

Kind regards

after speaking to vumatel and them testing the line and telling me it is 100% and that the isp is controlling the speed i have come to the conclusion that the problem is with rocketnet and their network so it looks like they have a bandwidth problem
it also makes sense now why they never come back with anything meaningful and just keep asking for ticket
numbers
it took me 5 minutes to find out from vumatel if anything is wrong

Please refer to original ticket #127859 where you requested a downgrade in writing from a 20/20 package of to a 20/2 package.

And I was told I then have to pay R500 if I want to downgrade, you asked for confirmation to downgrade... I never confirmed as I did not want to pay R500, so you supply me with proof where I said yes go ahead. You can't cause I never said go ahead. I even replied to a mail last month when I saw 20/2 was activated and said WTF why the downgrade, I am on 20/20 not 20/2 anymore but never got a reply back... so yes, you screwed up unfortunately

Congrats, your support is now worse than telkom

15:55, lets go!

Oh look! Netflex at almost line speed. So is a local speetest server. testmy.net is UK based and not on port 80/8080 ? 4mbps.

My ftps download on a single thread on a random port? 4mbps.
