RocketNet on Vumatel

It's my landlord's subscription so I'll have to get the details from them.

It is over WiFi yes. Their router is quite far away from me at the moment. Could that cause latency spikes?

Ping the router, will probably be the wireless connection that's causing the latency spikes

Recently got 4MB Uncapped RocketNet on Vuma in Durbanville. Downloads are pretty great, but the latency not so much. I get frequent spikes of 300 - 800ms, even to local servers. Makes playing FPS games a bit of a pain.

Has to be your wi-fi signal. I get 150-170ms playing on European servers on WebAfrica. That's also over wi-fi though, but the signal isn't bad.

Also over Vumatel in Durbanville.

Thanks for the advice guys.

My WiFi connection to the router seems fine. Averages 1ms.

But there's a massive jump in latency to cr2-gwf-agr1-gi0-0-1.wolcomm.net on onwards.

What latency do you guys get with Rocketnet to EU for gaming?

Pref from JHB.

I don't have the game IP's with me so maybe just a ping to bbc.co.uk (212.58.246.79) so I can compare it to my DSL connection.

Tnx

Hi Guys ive also just hooked up Rocket net and i can safely say that hassle free and great response to queries , and if they say 20down 20 up its true im quite happy with them.

Couple of days on Vuma + Rocketnet 50/5. So far so good. Downloads around 5-5.2MB/s, I don't know how to gaming pings but if it wasn't for my lack of skills, it seems good :)

Mike and Jaydy helped tons to get fibre installed and running, so thanks to them

Hi Guys just an update on this thread we are now live in CPT on Vumatel

I was thinking about using Rocket Net - the prices seem good, but my colleague is getting really frustrated.

She recently signed up and she's getting 58Mbps on a 100Mbps connection!

She's tried to query it with customer care several times and they keep asking her if she is testing it on the router or over the wifi - she is testing it at the router!!!

May give it a miss if this is the type of issues one can expect. Was using VOX and used to get 96Mbps consistently on a 100Mbps connection.

Hi ianbrink

Have a look at these results we are getting from Vuma home user on 100Mbps/100Mbps line.

- Local speedtest to Multisource Server (We know that this server is powerful enough to handle loads of bandwidth)

- International speedtest server that has good international bandwidth

sent mail over the weekend for some info and tried the live chat this morning but no reply on either are you people working over there
