Good Day All

Has anyone used Rocketsat internet.?
Just curious on legitimacy

Never heard of them. Will have a look at what brand of BS they are peddling and let you know if genuine or not.

Classic reseller operation, with no detail of how they provide their services.
You will need to contact them to find out the details of what you are interested in.
That satellite internet claim everywhere in SA is pushing their credibility, because service quality and coverage via satellite is very dependent on the platform over which they are working.
Would want to know lots before I would commit to them.

It looks like the classic scam site , there was one that looked the same . Might even be the same operators .
and no Phone number .

Thank you. Highly appreciated.
Sure. Why can't you do it yourself.

Is there an educated person who can answer please? I came across this site on Facebook. www.rocketsat.co.za
I think its your scam site. Their FB presence is non existent, its pretty much a graveyard page.

One would have to be an imbecile to even take that site serious.
  • no address that can be verified
  • no telno
  • thin on info

Thank you. I wish there was something we could do to expose and eliminate these scams.

Has anyone heard of or dealt with Rocketsat internet? I have come across them online www.rocketsat.co.za and their offerings seem to be enticing. Their satellite internet prices seem to be comparable to fibre, only for the R2K installation fee. Sweet news for anyone in a remote location.
However could this extract from their site be a red flag-:
What latency/ ping can be expected?
An estimated ping of 20-25 Ms ping can be expected in Metro’s/ Cities with an estimated ping of 40 Ms in outlaying/ rural areas.
The latency figures sound a little too ambitious for Satellite internet (although i have no experience in it) Then why would the latency figures differ by location when it's satellite, i thought satellite knows no boundaries between rural, urban or bush, unless i am missing something?

I saw their Facebook ad today.
Reviews are disabled, comments seem to be deleted off their Facebook page but they said they are "Well known in the sattelite Internet industry and that you are welcome to check forums", well, this is the 1st and only from result I get for them after some googling after they told me that I'm welcome to check forums etc.
Not sure what other forums there are and why their search results didn't pop up on Google.
This is their reply to me they sent via inbox after I asked why they turned reviews off as I'd like to see actual user experience

Hi ******,

We do not promote reviews on Hello Peter or Facebook and prefer to rather sort these out.

We are quite well known in the Satellite Industry and you are welcome to look us up on forums.

So, I sent them a reply to their message above and then sent them another message after finding this thread, I have now been blocked from commenting /interaction with their page.
I've been polite, put one comment publically saying that I was interested but I wanted to see more reviews from actual users, I can't show you that as they deleted it and don't remeber what I typed word for word.

This was my reply :
I'm keen on your offering, I'd just like to check around a bit. As I said in my post, I wasted R1000 on rain that never worked and all I could do was cancel so i didn't pay another R1000 the next month but I essentially paid R1000 for nothing. With the R2000 instalation fee here aswell, I dont want to end paying almost R3000 for "nothing" again, it's nothing personal to you guys but I need to see independant reviews, good or bad(obviously I'd look at what is said on the bad reviews and read between any lines there may be, eh, if the person is a serial complainer etc)
I'm assuming that when there is bad weather, the internet is down in the same way one's DSTV goes down in bad weather? Are there any other instances where the service goes down that one needs to know about? I'm assuming that this connection wouldn't be ideal for online trading or gaming but OK for streaming, genral Internet use and downloads?
Regards

Then after seeing this thread
My next reply :

The 1st forum entry I found about you guys

There is very little info on you online, you disable reviews on your page.
No thanks.

So, those messages earned me a ban from seeing posts or interaction with page.
I guess they don't like questions and only want people to click "buy now" no questions asked. It's a pitty, as I was really keen on this and all I wanted was some indication that it wasn't another Rain that sucks people in with pricing without delivering.
BUYER BEWARE IMO

Great stuff @ 00behave. Definitely a scam since rocketsat cannot and will not back up their claim. What's the way forward. Is there anyone on the forum who could assist with information on how we can expose these con artists. I'm sure we have all heard of or know of people who have been ripped off by this corrupt system. Is it that easy to promote marketing fraud without leaving behind some type of a digital footprint?

I've looked on whois and this is the info I get. Domain created October 2019 but they say rocketsat was formed in 2017 after a merger of sorts on their website.
I wonder how many people have clicked on the "buy now" icon since they 1st started advertising on Facebook on the 28th July.

Form their website

Also came across them and thought its just too good to be true. Had 100's of questions, but no telephone number to phone on. Emailed them ~ quick to respond. Asked their telephone number, their respond, due to covid they are not taking any calls as they are extremely busy, but if I give my number they will phone me back. Never got that phone call.
Then out of interest sake I placed an order online, to see what info they will give on the invoice they send me that needs to be paid.
1) the address is in Bloemfontein - it doesnt exist
2) VAT nr doesnt exist
3)Registration nr doesnt exist

So BEWARE, BIG SCAM!!

One year old website and 22k clients? And people on MyBB have never heard of them?

lol

I see that they use Yoco to process their payments. Maybe something can be done on that end.
