thanks for all the replies...

so it acted up again now and im thinking its not the remote... when i put the tv on, the roku screensaver was on, tried the remote and no response, so i connected my phone to it to use the roku remote app, the roku wasnt responding on that either... then i checked the roku in the bedroom, that one is working fine... which leads me to believe that perhaps my roku needs a hard reset? did a sift rest and it works normal again now....

@sliver... i just put new batteries in, so it oculdnt be that tx

So R1250ish plus a 14-21 lead time. I see Takealot have increased their offering from R1400 to R1569. Use the current R50 voucher and some eBucks and get it MUCH quicker with local support and returns ( My 2nd one arrived from Amazon with a dodgy remote)
 
Has anybody managed to watch Googleplay? Saw via email they have the move "the interview" that was in the news so much recently but "content not available in your country". Netflix working so does it mean we need to fiddle with the router and UnoTelly a bit more?

As far as I know Unotelly does not include Google Play, so you would have to use a VPN.

The Google play store changes region based on your billing address for your CC that is used in the Google wallet. If you change that billing address or use a virtual Card such as entropay and add a fake billing address (entropay doesn't care what address is used) the region of the play store including play movies and music will change to the country of that address. This works without VPN as once the region changes (give 24-48 hrs) you can access the content where ever you are.

Thanks guys. Thought that the issue was with my existing google account. Will create a new one for viewing purposes
 
Install Plex and add the unsupported app store channel. Then add G2G.fm (glowgaze) channel. You can now watch movies, like the interview and TV shows for free.
 
Netflix now shows the bit rate when you press the * button.

I've had that G2G.fm channel since it first came out. It's always been hit or miss for me.
When it works it works great. But I've had numerous error this/error that, "can't play/access content" yada yada.
 
It only gives problems when something on the website changes. The Developer is very active on the avs forum and fixes it as soon as it's reported.
 
There are numerous other plug-ins that serve the same purpose. I use a few but G2G works best.
