When you open Netflix, it opens with a "feature" page. Think its "Orange is the new Black". Press UP and there is a settings section there. Takes you to a screen where it shows you all the technical stuff, OS version, software version, IP, DNS, etc etc

Figured out what I was doing wrong… I was trying to find it on my Roku 1 and of course it doesnt exist. Found it on the Streaming Stick as advertised.

anyone using WoWTV on their Roku?

First I've heard of this and it looks quite promising. Only problem is price, so it would have to work flawlessly and show all the sport to be worth while. On that note, anyone tried it?

I saw it in action last night, very impressive.

I dont personally feel the price is too bad, considering what DSTV are charging.

Yeah the price is great if the sports and other channels work really well then it s a no brainer. BUt for me now I still pay DSTV R300pm to get my football fix and if I had to take this aswell, I might aswell take the Premium DSTV as it will cost the same and all I really care about is sport.

Do you know someone that uses the channel? How was the channel and quality? Also did you happen to look at the sport selection? Lastly what line speed where they running? Sorry for all the questions, just interested to know how the channel works.

Why not just cancel DSTV and get a dedicated sports package like ntv.mx or something instead?

Tried that and cancelled it as fast as I signed up. I was on a 10Mb uncapped line at the time and the channels would start out great and then start buffering, freezing and some just didnt work. Don't mind that for some sports, but when it comes time to my teams I support, nothing must get in my way

Cant load on a Roku, and to be quite honest I cant be bothered to load and connect a laptop each time I want to watch sport

Yes, the guy that came around to my house last night brought his Roku with him, plugged in and showed me. I was very surprised how quick the channels came up. He said to me that it connects through the Netherlands, which is good for us here in SA. When you start streaming from USA its almost always more of a pain in the ass. \

I didnt look at the sport section no. I have a 20mb line, on Afrihost capped. Afrihost are having issues of late though, but still I was very impressed at the quality of some of the channels that he did click on (that were under his fav list).

Ive asked for a trial account, and havent heard anything back yet...

Yeah a trial account might be a great idea.

@techead: I wouldn't pay for more than one month in advance as that company seems very suspect. My guess is that Roku will take down that channel very soon. Their blurry YouTube video appears to be filmed off a Bravia TV using a video camera!

Guys stupid question but I pick up the Roku when scanning for wifi at home. Can I connect to it and how..? (what password do you use?)

Not that I know of. The Roku wifi is for the remote, and btw it's on the same channel as your home wifi, although this has not been a problem for me.

I ended up wiring mine &moving channels because the thought of that wifi direct sitting on my wifi channel wasn't comfortable

Just got a Roku 3 to test out for the weekend. Created a roku account, set DNS in the router, etc. Netflix works fine.

Is there a way to get media off a local media server? I just can't find where to connect to media servers on my LAN.

Quick pointers appreciated ... or doesn't it do this?

I used to use a MicroServer and it was good for a single HD stream. At 2 it would choke a bit. More than 2 was a no go. Make sure you got a decent amount of ram.

I have since upgraded to a quad Xeon 3.2Ghz and it takes whatever I throw at it.

I've got a 2nd gen core i3 desktop 4gigs ram win7 x64 and it works fine either way. Got some 1080p MKVs in the 18 gigs range and they stream just fine
