Roku 3 tips and discussions.

The reason I added the DNS servers explicitly on the DHCP settings was because I experienced caching issues on my Roku's if I changed the DNS servers on the router's internet settings. This seemed to solve that problem.

But I am glad you can now watch Netflix. Hopefully it remains this way and you don't have to fork out for a new router :)
With my router the only way to specify the DNS servers is under DHCP settings. There is no option for DNS servers under Internet setup.

Roku 3 & Netflix issue.

Hi,

Using UnoTelly for Netflix viewing on iOS, web and Roku....for the last couple of days Netflix will detect that I am in another country on the Roku but the iPhone / web UI works perfectly.

Tried all the usual resetting / deleting and then re-adding app and nothing works, I have a mate with the same issues so it is not just me.

Anyone else having similar issues with a Roku / Netflix combo?

Got to block 8.8.8.8 on your router. I forward the traffic to my gateway.

So after alot trying to get NEtflix and Static Route to work on my router I have come to the conclusion that I need a new router. A friend of mine has given me a Trendnet N300 Wireless Home Router (TEW-731BR) to try and see if Netflix will work before I go out and purchase a new Modem.

I see it is supported on UnoTelly but the problem is there is no built-in modem on this router.

My question is is it possible to connect my Belkin to the Trendnet (to give it internet access) and then setup all the DNS and static Routing on the Trendnet router and use that to connect all the devices to the internet - basically ignoring the Belkin all together?

Hope that make sense?

Yup, put the Belkin into bridge mode so that it just handles the ADSL line sync.

The PPPoE can be handled separately on the TrendNdet router...along with DHCP, QoS and everything else.

What is the best router I can purchase from takealot, kalahari or any other reputable online store with fast shipping? Decided to just go this route so am open to suggestions.

I've taken a liking to TP Link routers. Most of them can be flashed to DDWRT (even the stock firmware is good though). Solid performers.

And will the static route work so that I can access Netflix again? This is my main concern as my current Belkin router works great for internet ect but doesn't allow me to access Netflix even after adding the static route.

Here are two options depending on your budget:

EDIT (Sorry this isn't an ADSL router):

Would i tnot make more sense to go for this one: http://www.dbg.co.za/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=5&products_id=988

I know it quite expensive but that seems to be one of the best out at the moment for that price or am I mistaken? I think I will be willing to spend around R1500 as long as the speeds are good and I can get Netflix to work again so if there are better ones in that price range I might consider?

I'm also looking at the D7. Someone mentioned that the D7 does not have LED indicators for the various LAN ports, but for me that is not a major problem.

Yes. I would get that one if budget was not a problem.

I'm going to Uniterm now actually, I can pick one up for you. :D

EDIT: Just remember that price is Ex vat.

OK cool so that is the one to get then? Id rather spend a little extra and get something that is good and will serve me well than spend less and be frustrated. Just want to make sure that there is nothing better in the same price range.

I actually live 3 minute drive from them so might actually pop over later and check it out but thanks for the offer (unless that offer was for the purchase aswell  )

Any Roku users on Neotel? I'm considering moving to Neotel to get away from a very unstable ADSL line, but want to know if there are any issues with Neotel streaming Netflix and Hulu. Also trying to find out if there is any problem setting the Unotelly DNS at router level with the Neotel supplied device.

Are you finally watching Netflix?

Not yet, forgot we had plans last night so didn't get around to setting it up. Will setup in the next 45 minutes and test everything out and hopefully have Netflix working...
