Roku 3 tips and discussions.

The dynamo settings he referred to are from Unotelly - as you can see they've "unlocked" quite a number of channels, including BBC iPlayer - https://www2.unotelly.com/channels

I must try this ... I'm using everything US but would love to give BBC a try without changing anything else

Edit: I should readier closely. I'm not on UK Roku :-(

You'll lose Hulu and a couple other US only channels but I found the UK Roku to have a much better selection in terms of free content. I am not a Hulu fan because of the Ads so the switch was easy, after all I have Hulu on the PS4 if ever needed

Hi all, I got the Roku 3, Unotelly (trial account), linked the Roku and managed to setup a Netflix account. Problem is that I can access Netflix via the pc but on the Roku it say that its not available in my region. I've got a netgear router that can't seem to enable static routes and I'm wondering: Do I buy a new router or will the Unotelly VPN option work and prevent the google dns lookups (8.8.8....). Your thoughts?

Which Netgear?

DGn2200V3. Even tried NG support, they were unable to assist. For some reason, my router doesn't want to save subnet changes and because there's a subnet conflict, the static routes don't want to save

I've got one of those.
Let me hook it up and see if I can get on Roku 3 Netflix with it.
I'll let you know the steps if successful.

For you guys that own one of these: can you limit the streaming quality on the YouTube app? I'm assuming there is no device wide setting for this?

Problem? My 3g and LTE is way too fast for my 720p TV and streaming at 1080p is a waste.

I haven't found a setting to control the quality - the YouTube app tends to stream at the best quality it can pull over the available bandwidth. On my 4mb line it ramps up to what looks like 720p VERY quickly...

Tell me about it. And these 3g/LTE routers don't have a way of limiting bandwidth by MAC. Does the YouTube app allow you to sign in with your Google account, because there is a setting on the site itself (*slow internet connection*)

Ok so I take it you've done the Unotelly Primary and Secondary DNS setup already.

Ok so you go to your DGN 2200 router menu. Hit Advanced. Then hit Advanced Setup. Then Static Routes.
Give your static routes a name eg "Netflix" whatever.
Static Route 1: Under Destination put 8.8.8.8. Then fill in your gateway.
Static Route 2: Under Destination put 8.8.4.4. Then fill in your gateway.

That's all I did.
I then refreshed the Unotelly IP off my PC. Went to Roku and made sure the Network connection is all set up.
Voila! Netflix on Roku 3.

Yes - full sign in and sync of history and playlists. Will look a little later to see if there is a setting inside the app

Been trying that for a few days now... Doesn't save. Keeps saying "The gateway must be on the same subnet as the WAN interface or LAN interface"

How did you obtain your gateway?

Windows start button.
Type "cmd"
ipconfig

The Default Gateway should be right there.

Unotelly dosn't block google dns, you have to do that yourself on your router.

Edit: thanks Vernon!

What are you setting the subnet mask to? Try 255.255.255.255 and if it doesn't accept that, then try 255.255.255.0

The gateway on the command prompt is 192.168.0.1, subnet 255.255.255.0. When I use this subnet or *.*.255.255 it still gives me the subnet error. I've reset the router, it currently has the latest firmware - still no joy...
