Roku 3 tips and discussions.

I have followed this guide http://help.unotelly.com/support/solutions/articles/165897-

Something I noticed is that on my router, you can either select your IP (external) or you can chose the interface. We all have non-static IP's in SA as far as I know, so opted for the interface option.

Shouldnt be an issue, right?

You can use any bogus private IP preferably your router's internal IP or even localhost 127.0.0.1 that should work

Might just be the Router I have, its a Telkom issued, Dlink DSL-2750U

When tell it to use the adapter, it doesnt block the ping test. If I try 127.0.0.1 that isnt allowed in the IP section. I specifically DONT want to use the external IP as this will surely change somewhere along the line. I tried the Router IP and that works like a charm.

Aside from those 4 IP's are there other I should be blocking as well?

You can also block the other OpenDns node 208.67.220.220 /32

Never blocked any IP addresses. Is it really necessary?

The hardcoded Google Dns is the reason for the blocks

You can follow the instructions on Uno's website

http://help.unotelly.com/support/solutions/folders/260659

It ensures all Dns requests from within your network do not have a chance of leaking onto public dns servers

So I followed the steps for the belkin router using both 127.0.0.1 and 192.168.0.253 for all four of the routes and restarted twice and when I do a ping I still get replies. Surely this isn't correct? Anyone know what I can try differently?

What is your router's Ip address? Try use that one instead and test

Hi there

Everything is up and running on my roku with a us account. Plex up and running and also Netflix is working.

One thing is not though... I'm only getting stereo on Netflix even though I'm trying all sorts of series and movies with surround sound options.

I have surround sound selected in audio mode in the roku.

Any ideas?

What's your internet speed?

Hi

Just to post back here that I got the 5.1 audio working.

I went into my Netflix account (on my PC) and changed the setting from Auto to High Quality under the streaming options. I then made sure that the Roku was set to Surround under Audio. Unplugged the Roku, left it for about 15 min and plugged back in.

Real audio now working not that Stereo cr@p :o

:D

Where is that screen?

Think its coded into the Netflix app itself. If that is what you mean?

I went into Netflix on my Roku and I can see the DNS for Unotelly (that its getting from my router) as well as the Google DNS 8.8.8.8 for the reverse lookups

How do you get to that screen though?

How do you get to that screen though?

When you open Netflix, it opens with a "feature" page. Think its "Orange is the new Black". Press UP and there is a settings section there. Takes you to a screen where it shows you all the technical stuff, OS version, software version, IP, DNS, etc etc
