Rookie v AppleTV or Amazon FireStick

I have a Roku and looking to upgrade I like Roku because I can pay via PayPal but often find that one of the channels will not load and it reverts back to menu So Amazon and Apple are both South Africa accounts Apple with a bit of a fiddle can pay through PayPal Amazon not at all So can I access on Amazon Fire stick US channels Also with Apple TV will it allow US based channels ?

Yes, provided you have some kind of DNS or VPN on your router.
I use to do it, gave up on it. Netflix and Amazon et al keep finding dns and vpn providers and blocking them though.
