I had a root canal done in two appointments the last appointment was on 2 March 2019. Which totalled about 5 hours. Prior to this I had a composite filling done in December.

I'm experiencing a throbbing ache in my jaw. So now I think the infection may have returned which means an extraction.

Its a lower molar I am thinking of getting an implant.

Can any one refer me to a dentist or oral surgeon where you had an implant done? What is the estimated cost? My medical aid would definitely not cover the implant.

Any information would be appreciated.

It would probably be a good idea to start with where you are first.

The dentist might have a missed a nerve branch. Not common, but it does happen as sometimes the branch isn't very visible.

Happened to me before. My dentist did a root canal, finished up and by the next day my mouth was swollen and throbbing like no tomorrow.I went back and he gave me a course of antibiotics to clear up the infection as he couldn't work with an infection present.
After that he did another x-ray and found a branch that was in a strange position and redid the root canal.Took ages, but he got it sorted.

Hope you get it sorted. Not fun when that happens.

Yeah my medical aid will be screaming.

I’ve had one or two “retreats” by an endodontist. They are usually successful.
