Rotational loadshedding

Like you said R2k is not that much if you need to replace the geyser every year. But yes I do clean the geyser whenever I replace elements. But I really need to start checking out anything I can to start getting a backup system in place.
I was quoted R3k odd earelier this year to get my borehole iron content tested (Setpoint Labs)

We can assist:

Our 6300 Short SANS241 package covers about 90% of the safe drinking water determinands set out by SABS as well as LSI Index for corrosion and scaling and, SAR for irrigation suitability. It’s great to determine your water’s safety for consumption.

Our 6316 Basic Potability JHB – it covers about 60% safe drinking water parameters set out by SABS. This package additionally covers the LSI index which is scaling and corrosion determinands. This is great to determine filtration type and filtration effectiveness

We are in the same town it seems. We could have a competition of who has the biggest pothole outside their driveway.
Well my pothole is actually a leaking water pipe that hasn't been fixed for about 8 years now, and it supplies water to stray animals and birds. Yours is probably just an ordinary pothole.

Your eco system substaining pothole wins, my nearest pothole makes up 3/4 of the road but simply lacks depth to contend with other thousand potholes in town.

The ANC has done three things for my town.

Sabotage the people who actually get things done.

Steal all the funds.

Fighting and intimidating each over who gets to steal the money.

The only province that seem to have paid their debt is Western Cape.

Think it's time I make a plan to move.
It's municipalities, it has nothing to do with provinces, municipalities owe Eskom money and Eskom load reduct them in return.

And no, Western Cape municipalities also owe Eskom money, it might be a lower amount compared to the others but there are municipalities there who owe Eskom.

ANC municipalities

Geysers don't need to be on solar
Your Geysers will recover its lost heat when power back.

A good solar system will reduce your electric bill , and can feed loads before inverter but after meter.

A solar geyser is free hot water during summer and cut our electricity bill/usage by about 30%. Pays itself off very quickly due to the rising cost of power.

Only Soweto gets the write-offs tho.. but don't stress when the ANC renames something everything just starts working miraculously..

Soweto is not a municipality, and I am not the one stressing, I am not experiencing any load reduction.

I guess that is a good start. Problem is we have very hard water lots of lime in the water, so not sure hoe long a gas geyser will last.
I bought a cheap booster pump and connect it to a 25l drum with a ball valve and filled with vinegar. If my gas geyser flow starts dropping I connect it and circulate for a bit. Runs a good two months before I need to repeat.

Thanks, I'll remember this when it comes to the point where we go over to gas.

I honestly think it's just a way to disguise the actual loadshedding that we currently have.

Yes, and this is due to a combination of things. Eskom's stations are coming apart, meaning Eskom produces less power overall. But Eskom needs the money that isn't being paid over by the corrupt/incompetent who have stolen or misspent it in order to better maintain their power stations. The only way Eskom management can "best" deal with the situation is by "rewarding" those who run a tight ship with less loadshedding and punishing those who don't with load reduction.

For any individual affected by this, you may not support or have voted the corrupt into power, but you are now given a choice: join hands with those who want a better life and remove the corrupt (there are examples of the courts handing over control of parts of a municipality to other business bodies/civil organisations after legal proceedings), make peace with the life you now live even if that means less and less basic services, or leave to find a place which doesn't have these issues.
