Hi, i'm using an ethernet cable to connect to my dad's router, he has a 1gb telkom account which just got capped, i dialup to my own uncapped account on my pc but the router's Internet light keeps changing from green to red, and everytime this happens my connections drops. Surely it shouldn't affect the PPPOE connection, and what would be causing the light to keep changing?

Hi lilggg, What type of adsl router are you using? Are you running an ppoe and bridge mode at the same time on this router?

I'm not sure the model number but it's a netgear, yeah it's in bridged mode. The telkom details are in the router and i just create a PPPOE connection on my pc and dialup. He has been capped before and i havn't had any problems with the accounts i've dialed up with. I don't think it has anything to do with him being capped. The DSL light and internet light are solid green, then suddenly the DSL light flashes and then the Internet light dissapears, thena after a few minutes they come back for a few seconds then go again. The DSL light is still going red every few mins.

Ok got the model,its DG834GUv5

I'm using a d-link 2500 and had the same problem when my DSL light just started flashing everything went dead. I think it could be a problem in your area? Have you tired resetting the router or to re-configure from scratch? Ask a neighbor if they are also having difficulties connecting using ADSL.

I switched the router off and unplugged the power cable for a few mins but didn't help. Would ask the neighbours but they hardly ever home. I'll try a hard reset or add 1 of my accounts to the router and see. Thanks

Been trying for 3 days to fix this issue, first thought it was the splitter because we had a problem with loose wires before and it fixed the problem, now the phone is crackling and the router is still disconnecting every few minutes,it was fine for over 3 hours yesterday. Checked the Attenuation and noise and this is all i could find. Line Attenuation down: 51dB Noise down: 22dB. It seems to get slightly better at night, then gets worse and worse after 12am
