I'm pretty sure if your router can limit bandwidth and you limit yourself to 48Mbps up and down your bufferbloat would be A+.

Ok let me give that a shot

Unfortunately my router can only limit download. I set it to 35Mbps and I now get A.

I see they mention getting a router suited to handle "Smart Queue Management algorithms such as cake, fq_codel, PIE, or others ". Would a Microtik router suffice?

No idea, you'll have to check what RouterOS supports.
