Routers, new dial up profile, sim unlocking.

You need to understand and appreciate that as a new member it is our job to initiate you and give you kak so you may be part of the forum family.

Rise! An elite forum member! You too may now search the forum and correct noob members as they carelessly use incorrect grammar.
Well then I have to commend you on a initiation that is without a doubt full of kak ! I cant imagine how many people give up right at the beginning from your gang battering ....but I also have to admit I have never been this cautious and attentive of my grammar .I even proof read now before I post .

First point, what happens if you insert a telkom SIM? You might need to change the apn to "internet" but it should work (assuming you are in a Telkom coverage area)
As Sweevo said it does not work .The difference with mine it dose even get me to the page where I can unlock the router ,just goes to a vodacom page where I get to see information and status of my router .Upon close inspection at the information when I have my Telkom sim in the router it shows (not connected) where it shows a "connected" with a vodacom sim .

Then Sweevo is it not possible to do a flash without opening the router ?

Now, now boys - not good to be nasty to the new fella :) English is not OPs home language... I hope.

At least he's trying.
Actually it is :sneaky: ....lol .

Just joking ,where were you a day ago to save my ass?

Could you post a screenshot of this page?

Ok sow I have downloaded a couple of firmwares compatible with my router .Though I had to download them on random sites as the where no where to be found on the huawei website .Another factor is I'm also skeptical not only about whether the firmware will work but which is worth trying out as I have one version about 7 mb in size and another about 80 mb .Very contradictory !

Then yes they did provide instructions which looked easy enough except for the part where they mention that I will need to provid a flash code generated by my IMEI code .
Where can I get that FOR FREE ? and which firmware do you you recommend I use?

yeah be careful of downloading firmware from other sites.

that said, it appears the r218h is not a real huawei device, but a rebranded one. apparently its from ZTE.

are there any details of the model inside under the battery?

Not a problem ,as soon as I have my hands on it .I left it with a friend earlier on to see if he can't come up with a miracle .

Hmp talk about a close call .To think I would have blindly went through destroying my own router possibly just by reprogramming it with false firmware .
Sow which ZTE router is it then ?
Then the are a lot of details under the what in specific should I look for ?

just go to a vodacom store and ask if you can put a different sim in their dual sim phones for example...

computer says nooooo......
I did actually .That is one of the things I did when my journey turned to be a desperate one for success and I got some of thee most impolite service and the "technical specialist " lied to my face telling me it is not possible to change the firmware on the router .:cautious:

Sow yea a big Noooooo it was .

I took a picture of the router and scratched out details from the router since this is a puplic thread after all .Hoping this dose help shine some light on your theory .Please do tell if I have left some information too open on the pic even after all I have done on it.

Hi @Bhoza

I am sorry, I don't know this router. From the pic, it is Huawei version of the router.
Before debranding attempts I would start with this:
Click on "login" top right with username admin and password admin. Then change the APN to internet (for the telkom SIM)
Where it is? Perhaps this quide will help:
https://www.vodafone.com/content/da.../Vodafone-Mobile-Wi-Fi-Web-App-User-Guide.pdf

Login to the router and change default password to your own (see page 7 of the guide). Login again with new password if neccessary. Navigate to the page 10 of the guide, see a picture on the top, then navigate to the same place on the router's menu menu and change account type to "Custom". In the Custom mobile network connection settings you can change APN (according to the guide). You don't need to change anything else, leave username and password fields empty. Remember to save settings before logout.

Hope it helps, pls. let us know.
