hey all i need some help with the below details:

I want to setup a private network for guest access and have done the following so far. I have an old ASUS WL-520G broadband router which i have flashed with DD-WRT. I want it to provide internet but on a seperate ip range from my own so the guest network cant access my private network over wifi and lan connection. So I plug lan cable from my adsl router into wan port, plug lan cable from port 1 on asus router into laptop. i get ip address of 192.168.1.1 logon to router and change the following settings. Change wan port to static, assign it ip address of 192.168.1.254 as its out of the range, subnet 255.255.255.0 dns and gateway are set to adsl router ip off 192.168.1.1, change ip address of asus router to 192.168.10.1 and set dhcp for lan and wlan clients.

Perfect now my laptop has internet access ip address 192.168.10.100, here is were the issues arise. i dont want the guest network to be able to access adsl router webserver but can. Also i would like to be able to access the asus router from the wan address on the private network 192.168.1.254 to make changes. i have very limited knowledge on routing and would appreciate any help.

Regards

Dylan

Hi Dylan,

On the ASUS router you need to tick allow wan port to be managed in order for you access the router from you adsl network.
Not sure if you are familiar with firewall setup. You might have to setup firewall rules on the asus router to allow only HTTP traffic and DNS traffic etc this way when they try to access your network on the adsl router the traffic will be dropped by the asus router on the wan port.

Hey Windpomp. will give that a bash and see what i can find and revert back
