There seems to widespread confusion between the fraction of students who passed, and the percentage of correct answers that constitute a passing grade.
It seems that the results were substantially moderated, and this may have affected the outcome.

Interesting. Now all doctors need to be good looking? I would have thought that a handwriting course would be more beneficial.
Hey at least it wasn't something like 46 candidates registered to write the exams and today I'm proud to announce we have 51 new doctors!

The only possible advantage you would get from this bunch of doctors is a possible compensation claim for mistreatment, assuming you survive the procedure and the government still has money to give.
No amount of money can bring your penis back when they amputate it by accident!

Senkubuge - “Many of them were quite candid and they said, ‘listen doctor Senkubuge the reason why we’re failing is because we’re trying to take care of our families. We’re never there (for preparations). We’re R1 (surgeries) and that’.
So just another "save the blacks" thing to throw other races under the bus.
I'm assuming you'd find the "discrepancy" when you look at the racial makeup of the students involved. But of course you won't easily find that because we're a non-racial society...

I wonder if any of those who sat the exam were white in view of the current exclusion policy.

The odd thing is to get to this point they would have had to pass the first set of exams which is generally harder.
They also have continual assessment throughout their time as a registrar.
If you flunk at the end its usually because of personal reasons. I suspect that there were issues with one or two of the questions.
The other thing is that the exams are written in a central location and all the candidates from round the country come to one of the universities to write. This then rotates every year with examiners coming from that university.
So one year it will be a UCT exam and the next a WITS exam, then UFS etc.... so would be interesting to see which university was hosting the exam this year.

It is distinctly odd that the candidates at the more prestigious universities failed but those at the crappier ones did not.
