RSAWeb down in my area

well they got plenty to explain. Our Directors want to move and it is a R500k a month client that they might loose if they do not please and explain very quickly. Was asked today to start looking at other guys to move all of our buisness over too

I fully agree with you there but back in the day when they originally signed up with them I had no say in the matter. The one Shareholder was friends with someone high up at RSA Web so pushed the deal through that way. But think the ball will fall in my court now to change over and have 2 seperate suppliers/ISP's

Except if all their backups are on Vsphere and those were ransomware encrypted first…

Nope, I suspect it’s game over for RSAWeb now.

I also wouldn’t be surprised to find it’s an ex-employee who did it too because they are apparently a terrible place to work.

My dealings with them as a customer were enough to never ever come close to them again.

As @r00igev@@r said, if ur bill is r500k a month u have the resources to have your own diverse environment.

Ye seen this before - not pretty - imperative to have immutable backups for this very scenario

Why does anyone still use low level providers like these when they can just go directly to AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud instead?

Serious question. Why settle for such a clown show?

Cheap, cheap cheap - lots of customers had engagements pre Azure / AWS and don't move until an outage etc.

There are also a fair amount of VMWare Cloud (and others) providers around - and will be for the foreseeable future as generally they cater for a smaller / cheaper market segment.
