RSAWeb down in my area

Is RSAweb driving straight off the cliff pure incompetence or just bad luck?

So what's the outlook for a regular home fibre user with RSAWEB now? I switched to them from Afrihost literally a month and a bit ago (because of price not dissatisfaction with Afrihost), as it was going to save me almost R200 a month.

Whats the problem? Have been with them over 2 years always been helped quickly with a minor problem or two. Do you think other isp’s will never have a outage?
There is plenty of threads on MBB of people complaining about all other ISP’s

Is your fibre working? I don't see this affecting home fibre any further. If you are hosting with them, well good luck....

Yes my fibre has been working, at least since I changed the DNS settings, though on Twitter some users still seem to be having a red light on their router even now. I guess as long as this isn't a death knell for the company and doesn't keep happening every few weeks then I'll be fine.

Except if all their backups are on Vsphere and those were ransomware encrypted first…

Nope, I suspect it’s game over for RSAWeb now.

I also wouldn’t be surprised to find it’s an ex-employee who did it too because they are apparently a terrible place to work.

My dealings with them as a customer were enough to never ever come close to them again.
Full disclaimer I’m an ex employee.

I’ve got a good idea of what’s going on at the moment (I built, maintained and ran quite a few of the affected systems) - but they’re not a bad employer though.

At least not on the tech side, I actually miss them and the people I worked with.

I hope they recover, but as you say it’s not looking good at this point.

I have not worked for them but suffered as a customer from bad service and sneaky contracts.

But I know a number of ex employees there so exactly what’s going on now and it’s not very pretty at all.

As a business when you have a bill as high as the one above you cannot have all your eggs in one basket. You need dual connections from different ISPs and different co-locations.
We spend even more that that with RSAweb every month, about double every month, but use multiple service providers where needed. Some of our services we only have with RSAweb so this is a bit of an inconvenience for us currently. Any decent ISP reps here feel free to contact me, we are looking at moving.

This far into the event, they should have come out by now with something to say. They just keep spinning the same jargon and nonsense.
Its obvious they probably know whats gone wrong, and its time they start talking a bit more openly with everyone.

We have been informed what went wrong and I am sure they will release an official update soon. At least most of our services that was impacted have been restored, just a few outstanding that should be sorted out in the next few hours.

Does your restored services include any hosted services? Vm's, etc?

No, whe have some hosted services that has not been restored yet. but we are lucky that it is not critical services that we have on the shared hosting platform.
