Ryobi 6500 surging

Otherwise also give the carb a good clean. Old fuel can clog it and cause it to idle higher than normal as it is throttled.
I often have this problem on my 2 stroke motorbike
Dirty carb

Works with women too. A quick spray with Q20 and shes good.

Cleaned out the catch cup below the fuel cock.
Will be replacing the spark plug tonight.
Maybe do the oil change if I have time / feel like getting dirty.

Tomorrow we get hit twice a kak times so I want to be prepared.

Just bloody expensive at 3l/hour to run.
Ouch, my little 900w runs about half a liter an hour, my 2.8kw is just under a liter.

The 2600i is a 1l/h

I’m annoyed now. The 2600i also causes a flicker on my lamp that im testing with. Same on the LED downlights.

Both can’t be dirty power?

Are you using the same cable for both that connects to the house? Perhaps the cable isn't right?

I don't think you'll be able to tell exactly what's happening without an oscilloscope, but to me it sounds like the alternator AVR might be faulty.

It's about a R300 part depending on the alternator brand, but I also know that some of the models have a set screw to adjust the voltage. Usually the AVR components are cast in resin to protect against vibrations, but it can be that the screw has worked itself loose and needs adjustment again.

It can be done DIY (both setting the voltage or swapping out the AVR) but as it involves AC current, I normally recommend having it brought in to a repair centre or qualified electrician for diagnosis.

The 2600i only flickered without a proper load on it.

Ill get someone out to test and check the 6900

If you're in Johannesburg I got guys called JHB Generators and Inverters to check out and sort out my gennie was only R450.

What are the chances of 2 different generators having the same problem?

Cable is a thick boy with a quick disconnect on one end and a 3 prong on the other. No loose connections and the cable doesn't get warm.

Evidently, @maxxis saw his generator explode and take him out, on 5 Aug 2022.

What have the rest of you learned and what tips do you have pertaining to Ryobi generators?

keep the oil level up ,otherwise after a while as it heats up it will start doing funky things .the oil level sensor sits in the sump and is ridiculously sensitive .
