s5, iPhone 6 or Note 4

Aww, GSMArena were really nice stay neutral, even though its clear the Note 4 destroyed the 6 Plus :D

Its no secret the Note 4 is better, Apple are now in Samsung's turf, Samsung took the Phablet idea and built great functionality around it, and it shows, the 6 Plus has a whole lot of catching up to do.

Just reading that review, one can see that the Note 4 was built from day 1 to be a large phone, with Samsung paying a lot of attention to detail in usability, while the 6 Plus just seems to be an oversized 6 which is an oversized 5S really, the 6 Plus seems to be less user friendly and more of a cut&paste job from the smaller iPhones.

Have you actually both ios and Andriod devices?

I borrowed a friends iphone for week as i was considering an iphone 6. I couldn't make it past 2 days. As I don't need a fashion phone there's no need to consider i devices.

That's just not true, in fact completely the opposite. I see more iDevices in the middle and upper socioeconomic classes than ever.

What I said is true. Maybe not in America, but the rest of world yes.

And yes, there are more iDevices in the upper socio-economic classes, and there is a very good explanation for that.

1. People with more money want to be fashionable. The iPhone is indeed more fashionable than any Android device. It's more a fashion statement than what it is a high-tech device for them.

2. Think about this. How many upper management tech savvy people are there, compared to tech-savvy peasants? A lot more tech savvy peasants. And what is the device of choice for the more tech savvy peasants?

Extensively. Except a Nexus, which I'd like to as it seems to be the only way to get as fluid an experience as iOS. The fact that it needs twice as many CPU cores and three times the RAM is concerning though.

The iPhone is an extension of the quality of the Apple brand. Have you used a MacBook Pro substantially? You'll know what I mean if you've owned one. It gets better when you own various Apple devices.

While there are image-conscious people in all camps, there's a lot more to it than the ignorant belief it's based on image.

What, exactly, is your point? I'm worried that you don't even have one.

Its a lot more than just more cores and RAM, this is why I find it insanely stupid when an iPhone user throws such a claim.

Android has more overhead than iOS, what is so difficult to understand about that?
Androids also have higher res displays, do true multitasking (iOS to this day doesn't, I own an iPad 4 on 8.1, I know), and Androids also have more hardware to run from more memory to address, to additional sensors and so on.

Its like comparing a Range Rover to a BMW M3 and asking why the RR needs more torque than an M3, well its a heavier car that is built to do more than a sports car, in the same way that Androids do more than iPhones.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the claim, which merely emphasises the benefits of software and hardware designed together. This much is a fact. As far as personal opinion goes, as a technical person there's nothing I can't do on iPhone, and the overall experience is far more refined, thoughtful and consistent.

I understand. It just isn't necessary with iOS. There also isn't any vendor competition which often leads to unnecessary specs, inflating numbers, etc. As one example, sure, high resolution in phones is technologically impressive, it just isn't needed. Retina is more than enough, even for my trained eye.

For you. My experience on both iOS and Android is about the same, iOS isn't as "thoughtful and consistent" as you try make it out to be, there are still many inconsistencies from app to app, some change where buttons are placed, others don't have certain buttons, its simply not that good, Android has the same problem, both are usable but not perfect, nowhere near it.

I understand. It just isn't necessary with iOS. It means it will achieve speeds that are illegal on public roads, which the RR can also do, the difference is that when it gets rough (which it does with our potholes and rubbish roads), the RR will fare far better and give more utility. Much like how Androids even when reduced to running on EDGE in parts of this country, can still manage far better than iOS.

iOS seems to need HSDPA at the very least to give a decent experience, my iPad is pretty much useless in a place with bad high speed coverage, while my Note will adjust to what is available and keep going.

And iPhone and iOS are much closer to perfection, in my experience. Can you blame me, comparing to a Samsung with TouchWiz?

That's one of the main reasons I like iPhone, for its camera, Camera app, and picture quality and consistency. The autofocus and tap to focus is unmatched. This isn't about progress in technology, which I already understand. It's about it being half the resolution of yours. ;)

It sounds like you're predicting a natural disaster of sorts, and you just took the comparison too far, I'm afraid. Perhaps it appeals to a fraction of bundu-bashing smartphone users.

I hope you do one day, maybe start with a second hand rMBP if you're interested and are in a position to experiment. Even for Windows, as no Windows laptop compares. I think you might like OS X though, I use it 98% of the time now after being on Windows for 95% of my life.

I expect the phone to "just work", whether I'm part of the ecosystem or not ;)

Owning more Apple devices was an aside. I was on iPhone only for 4 years before getting anything else which just worked.

If I was marketing the device to you, it would be heavily based on its quality. I know you have a particular sense for that sort of thing.
