Indeed, he's spewing utter BS. As a pilot (not trained by the military but I work with the military boys all the time), I feel that good training and good pilots is the one thing we still have. The SU 30 theoretically may have range and performance to match the Gripen, but the electronics of the Angolan ones aren't up to scratch. Electronics is what the SAAF Gripen is all about. Any SU 30 from Angola would be shot down by the Gripen long before it has the opportunity to shoot back....and this is coming from someone who still thinks the Gripen purchase was stupid and unnecessary.
Please don't speak if you know nothing. Although our military has numerous problems. The training of our top tier squadrons is top notch.
Oh and FYI, our combat squadrons aren't based at Hoedspruit.
I still recall the mornings where you had multiple C-130 power up at 3 in the morning at Waterkloof.
Indeed they will. I hear from the boys that at least 5 out of twenty something remain ready to go at all times. That's a good base of 4 plus one reserve. The Gripen on paper has the technology to mix it up with a F-35 and F-22 in a knife fight. The problem here is that will they be in the air when the first Su-30 is overhead.
There are. Not at my PC right now but search for Exercise Red Lion.
Red Lion is a Naval Exercise, the Air Force exercise is called Lion Effort

Every state and, by association, every military has the blood of innocents on their hands. That's the reality of defence.Bombing women and children in villages is nothing to be proud of.
