This is a thread for people who use Arch Linux and would like to talk with other users
Ready, Set, Go.

Sheep sheeeeeeep
IT buys windows at every company I ever worked at.

I tried Ubuntu many years ago, created a thread about it. That laptop still works even though I keep it in the garage, but it is too much of a hassle for a ordinary non IT person as myself to use for day to day computer tasks.

I hate to agree but I have to.... too many things are not idiot proofed and no one thinks they really need to.

Could be the major difference between Windows and Linux distros is that for Linux you install and configure the OS yourself while Windows comes installed. Once an OS is installed and configured for network and printers be it Windows, Macos or Ubuntu, for a person who only needs to browse the web, read emails and some word processing, there is no much difference between those systems. Personal computers work and are used the same way basically. We can all access MyBB forum using different OSes, that is how similar they are.

Nope. Installed windows multiple times with windows 10 at least 3 times, I know not a lot of installs, but all relatively pain free.

1. Desktop pc, self build in 2017.
2. Lenovo T410, ssd and ram upgrade in 2019 including upgrade/clean install to windows 10.
3. Wifes HP 250 ssd and ram upgrade, clean install of windows 10 in 2020.

Ubuntu, once installed was okayish, but getting there and figuring it out was not easy. I had Ubuntu installed on 3 computers, 1 x desktop and 2 laptops. One laptop is still in the garage. Based on my experience. It was better to installed on the laptops. But still a schlep, and not worth it for average home user like myself.

Aside from the experimenting I don't see the point in running a desktop Linux distro.
