SA breaks 3Mbps average broadband speed

I'd love to contribute as my line is able. Just need a 6meg uncapped account.

Mweb users get an average of over 20Mbps and at the same time only 2Mbps? Why is it listed twice and how can that be possible?

Wow, my 4mbps ADSL maxed out at 0.8mbps, and my mobile stuff doesn't reach those speeds consistently.

Maybe the middle of Joburg is NOT the place to live for good broadband !

What are they measuring and comparing? Exclusive fibre networks at Technicons and artificially limited DSL connections in residential area? Then calculated an average?

LOL screamer is at the bottom, they wanted to stick to those cr@ppy 512k / 1024k offerings, not to mention the cr@ppy pricing

i am at 384 kbps with adsl and 256 (edge) on my cellphone. I wish i could get a job at vodacom writing up fictitional stats like these

Edge is supposed to be 384... unless you're sitting with a curbed one.

This is definitely not related to our ADSL....
South Africa in comparison had an average upload speed of 1.27Mbps.

Uhm that's plain 3G, isn't it. EDGE is below 300.

3Mbps? What's so wow about that.... If it were 3MBps...., now that would be something.

maybe to pull the stats more towards the correct side, we should do a "quick" test everytime we visit a friend/family member/client with dialup.

There is nothing wrong with the sample. The same could be said for any of the other countries Ookla tracks.

There could many more thousands, millions in the higher ranked countries with much slower speeds than their average that don't test.

It's funny how pessimistic you guys are, when SA does poorly you bash it and when it does well you still bash it anyway. Granted, it's still below average it's still an improvement.
