Yeah, but this is iol. As per the article, the key points re the exemptions are here:
Trump has trained his guns on South Africa, tweeting recently that he had asked his secretary of state to “closely study the South Africa land and farm seizures and expropriations and the large-scale killing of farmers” – apparently drawing on an inaccurate Fox News report.

The government did not take kindly to the tweet, and reportedly met US government officials in Pretoria over the “unfortunate comments” by Trump. Attempts to get comment from Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies and his spokesperson Sidwell Medupe were unsuccessful.

So, much like mugabe, when everything goes to **** after ewc, tis all the wests fault. China is happy, west 'trained guns' at SA. It was a planned attack. Its their fault it didn't work;)

Sishen do not make finished products they're just a mine owned by Anglo, who are London based. What the tariffs will do is **** up Hulamin who I believe supply metal to Tesla.

Some of us want Luthuli House to catch a wake up, maybe look at the countries they are trying to emulate and understand that they do not exist in a vacuum. Their actions and ill-decisions have ramifications.

My brother is in the steel industry and when these tariffs were implemented they got hit hard. Jobs are on the line here and we had a chance for a reprieve, but the ANC gonna ANC and persist with asinine ideas.

It was, Rob Davies begged the US to exclude it from the new restrictions, stating that thousands of people locally will lose their jobs. Obviously 'ol Donald was not fooled and refused.

This does not bode well for South Africa when it comes to EWC. The ANC can rest assured that Donald's first three actions, when a single farm is expropriated will be:

1. Total exclusion from AGOA.
2. Sanctions.
3. Seizing all bank accounts and assets of government officials abroad and placing restrictions on their international movements.

Trump does seem childish and petty enough to do that sort of thing. US governments do tend towards pettiness, but Trump has managed to take this to new levels.

Read somewhere that 5% of the SA production is exported to the US which makes 1.4 or 1.6% of the US steel imports.

Can’t find the link again.

Guess SA will be limiting and slapping on tariffs on their farming products here. I'm pretty sure the farmers will be happy.

The whole you must agree or suffer trade war will just mean they will not be a reserve currency for long. Stupid people do stupid things and then suffer as a result.. US gonna have a fun time in the coming years fixing the Trump era.

I like how they claim they 'generously' donate funds to the UN, WTO, IMF and then complain that they don't get things they want. <-- thats not how democracy works... and these organisations are the global equivalent. If they do not want to part take in these organisations then they should leave it.. the world will be better for it. Paying your membership dues is part and parcel of the agreements signed.
