SA gets Google Maps Live Traffic

I like this:

According to the following legal notice Waze is included as a source for iOS 6 Maps, in addition to Getchee, Localeze, Urban Mapping, DMTI, MapData Sciences and, of course, TomTom.

Having multiple providers would give you much more reliability where the one is not sufficient - i.e., Waze might not be very popular in PE, but TomTom might have different sources in the area and thus be able to still provide some traffic details (this is just an example).

i could troll the service by leaving maps open when i'm cruising home through traffic on my motorbike :D

I was thinking this exact same thing. I turn on my Google Maps for Latitude purposes before I get on my bike to go anywhere so that if something were to happen, Hubby would be able to find me. This morning the N1 S was a parking lot from basically Allandale through to William Nicol (a brick-transporting truck had an accident on Sloane street at the first circle, causing a back-up through the slipway onto William Nicol, causing a back-up onto the N1S offramp, which caused a backup all the way to Allandale. Whoa.) and I was worried that I was corrupting their data sets by being the only thing moving faster than 50kmph while everyone else is standing still. I wish I could say somewhere that I am a motorcycle, not a car.

I used to check routes.tomtom.com everday before I ride anywhere (love TomTom and their live traffic), but it was so slow to load through the browser on my BB or I forget to do it on my laptop before I leave the office. Now I don't have to stress anymore. It's right there on my BB when I turn on my Latitude :D

Love it! Thank you Google :)

thanks man will give it a try. :D

Well this morning it turned out to be useless in Pretoria CBD. ALL the streets were chaos.

You need more people with it on for better accuracy. Only a few days old. Give it a few more.
Waze is pretty accurate and works on a similar concept - but been around a little while now.

You are welcome.

PS: Google's next Map application will cache based on Zoom, so you will be able to cache from a city block all the way to the whole world, well if you have enough space on your device.

They should just make Witkoppen one red line. Always
