Well the markets are starting to get hammered
I sold all my ETF's early last week
More than pleased as by my accounting I would have lost 20% of value in 3 days if I had stayed in
I managed to get out at 28% profit for 18 months

This is the movement on some I watch
The top USA 500 has lost 10% value this morning alone

Maybe Mashatile will take help of Musk to get rid of Cyril. Cyril is an infant billionaire (and just rand billionaire at that) compared to Musk, who is a dolla billionaire.

Nah, I reckon the real hurt is coming before the VAT increase even happens tbh.

And Paul can not rely on the DA with that either since it will be the ANC and their little arsecreepers that are to blame.

Could be . Im not watching oil prices atm. Dont trade in it. But all of ours is USD based, so will be interesting at some point

Oil is around the $60 per barrel at the moment. Last month it was at $70 range.

The ANC are yet to advance any of the our people interests though. Quite the opposite, business at least provide jobs and pay taxes even if their primary motive is profit. The ANC provide no positive byproduct of their stealing and incompetence but yes Ramaphosa has to say that because it is the right populist thing to say to a long suffering voting fodder.

Why are all the idjits saying that leaving the GNU puts the country first? The DA, the Country and Oom Piet gains nothing from the DA vacating their positions in the cabinet. In contrast, they actually lose any power they had inside the executive.

Make it make sense to me. Or is everything just optics to you guys and the good guys always win or some ****?

The dilemma for the DA is that staying means they confirm they're the ANC's cucks. I say confirm because that's always how the ANC wanted to run things. They all always intended to continue BAU with their manifesto regardless of losing the majority. The other small parties are happy to sit in comfortable positions and support the ANC's misguided agendas instead of fighting to meaningful reform and a real inclusive government not just be ANC bitches.

it has nothing to do with them leaving or staying in the GNU, or at least not primarily

the DA could put the country first by putting the GNU and by extension their cushy ministerial positions at risk: table a motion of no confidence and blow the GNU to pieces

i.e. don't leave the GNU, create a chance for an entirely new GNU or something entirely different, now is the time to strike, all these power hungry opposition parties and the snakes in the GNU might just vote Cyril out, then all bets are off, we may even have another national election as a result

of course the optics of a GNU member tabling a motion of no confidence will generate the typical ANC reee-ing of why they are in the GNU if they have no confidence in Cyril and it might just give Cyril the ammo he needs to fire DA ministers and whatever else he wants to do but can't quite yet ... it does not matter if the motion succeeds

You nailed it with "In contrast, they actually lose any power they had inside the executive."

DA staying in GNU is in the interest of country and DA itself. No point in relinquishing power they have right now. Decent work done in at least Home Affairs, not sure about others.

Which is why building parallel institutes is so important. Double taxation, but oh well.

It doesn't matter about perception. I don't see any circumstances where DA will be seen in a good light by the usuals, no matter how hard they try.

Hopefully DA will swallow this "insult" and move on. Let ANC explicitly initiate the move to kick them out, if they dare.

Why does the ANC get to choose if the DA remains in the GNU or not - and that the new GNU will be ANC + ASA + the remaining GNU?

I think it would be way funnier if the DA made a new GNU with everyone else but the ANC + ASA instead. Imagine a DA+EFF+MK etc. Wouldn't get anything done, but it would be entertaining.

This is one of those political games where Cyril (good cop) won't kick DA out of GNU but it seems they have set Mashatile (a bad cop) on DA to see what happens.

All this while we suffer.
