Not like the DA can be trusted not to support that motion.

If the RETs had their way, they would embarrass Ramaphosa (this is if DA is thrown out) by forcing him to Mbeki or have him lose a MONC.Are they really this stupid?
Incorporate the EFF and all of the new clingons. Double down on and ramp up EWC. Prepare for civil war.

- DA leader in KwaZulu-Natal Francois Rodgers held a press briefing amid uncertainty about the future of the government of provincial unity.
- Although he was diplomatic about most issues related to the national and provincial government of unity, he was particularly irked by two IFP leaders.
- Rodgers added that the DA in the province and nationally were joined by an "umbilical cord", which meant that any instability in the GNU could affect KwaZulu-Natal.
DA KwaZulu-Natal leader Francois Rodgers believes the national and provincial governments of unity will survive, despite disagreements between the ANC and DA over the fiscal policy at a national level.
He was speaking to the media from the DA's Durban offices just a day before bilateral meetings between the DA and the ANC as well as the IFP on the future of the national and provincial governments of unity.
The parties are bound by their coalition agreement in KwaZulu-Natal and nationally but what clearly separates them is the fiscal framework.
"We're in very interesting political times and not just in KwaZulu-Natal, but at a national level," Rodgers said.
"Historically, what we're very proud of is the GPU (government of provincial unity) was formed before the GNU (government of national unity), and that sets the tone for what we've managed to achieve."

Rodgers said the arrangements were built on trust and relationships.
He commended the four GPU partners -the ANC, National Freedom Party, IFP and DA - for their "mature" leadership during tough conversations.
Rodgers said all four parties had a shared goal of building a capable state.
He added:
It's not all wine and roses. We have our differences, the four parties that make up the GPU, and some of those differences are awkward at times and there are difficult conversations.
He added that despite having written to Premier Thami Ntuli (IFP) to inform him the DA won't support the National Council of Provinces representatives' mandate to vote for the fiscal framework, the DA hasn't "thrown out the baby with the bathwater" or threatened to leave the GPU.
With that said, Rodgers invoked Isaac Newton, who said that "every action has a reaction".
"What happens at a national level does impact on the province," the DA leader added.
"This is why we're saying [to GNU leaders] use KwaZulu-Natal, a model that's working, as an example of a government of unity that's actually working. Put your personal differences aside and stop communicating your anger through the media."
Rodgers added that the DA in the province and nationally were joined by an "umbilical cord", which meant that any instability in the GNU could affect KwaZulu-Natal.
While there is no talk of exiting the GPU "at this stage", political leaders need to realise that the balance of power in KwaZulu-Natal hangs by the thread of two seats, at most, he said.
"That means, [if the parties don't find one another] we will hand over power to the MK Party and the EFF," Rodgers added.
That scenario is not popular among all the GPU partners, he pointed out.

He urged all national party leaders to put their egos aside.
Responding to a question on the IFP's recent reference to "God" complexes of those opposed to the fiscal policy, he said: "You know what I find interesting about the IFP is that there is an enormous amount of talk and hot air from people who are not part of the GPU."
He said both IFP president and Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Velenkosini Hlabisa, and IFP spokesperson and Transport Deputy Minister Mkhuleko Hlengwa did not serve in the GPU.
As a result he would expect to deal with Ntuli.
"I disagree with that type of politics [of] coming out and start attacking one another. It's really just about egos. I couldn't care about egos. What I care about is KwaZulu-Natal, its people and changing the trajectory of the province."
Meanwhile, the IFP announced that a positive meeting on the fiscal policy had taken place on Thursday.
The IFP will meet the DA on Sunday - a day after the DA is expected to meet the ANC.
If the DA loses any ministries then they'll walk. Next budget vote isn't a simple majority, it's 201 votes. They'll need one of the DA, EFF or MK to pass it...
This could also be a strat by RET...
Don't think the DA will vote to remove Ramaphosa, they'll let them stew in their mess and factional politics. ANC isn't removing Ramaphosa until the term of his ANC presidency ends. They'll be setting a bad precedent where they'll have an ANC president who isn't president of the country, which is unfathomable for them...If the RETs had their way, they would embarrass Ramaphosa (this is if DA is thrown out) by forcing him to Mbeki or have him lose a MONC.
And then, roll out the "welcome home" mats for EFF/MK to either simply coalesce or to "come home".
I would love for the GNU to continue but even I don't have any idea how that can happen under the circumstances, the DA has voted against the budget, they are in court challenging the passing of the budget, yet at the same time they are in the government tasked with implementing the sane budget. Are they really this stupid?
I know the president can do as he pleases with cabinet reshuffle; but this would be the ANC effectively kicking the DA out of the GNU. If they do… then what the plan?

I know Ramaphosa would be opposed to kicking them out but I don't see how he will be able to justify having them inside, even if you were to put yourself in his shoes what do you say to the NEC?
Why must every party in the coalition agree to something they had no actual input into?I would love for the GNU to continue but even I don't have any idea how that can happen under the circumstances, the DA has voted against the budget, they are in court challenging the passing of the budget, yet at the same time they are in the government tasked with implementing the sane budget.

They aren't implementing anything yet, they only voted on the framework. They haven't voted on the division of revenue yet, where department budgets are allocated...I would love for the GNU to continue but even I don't have any idea how that can happen under the circumstances, the DA has voted against the budget, they are in court challenging the passing of the budget, yet at the same time they are in the government tasked with implementing the sane budget.

Let them, and then once this **** is president, team up with the MK and EFF to impeach him.

Yes I do, they never agreed on a lot of things since the GNU, the difference is unlike those instances, this time they could not find each other, it is as simple as that. You know a coalition doesn’t mean you must agree with everything one party does, right?
Yes, they are in court. They aren't implementing anything yet, they only voted on the framework. They haven't voted on the division of revenue yet, where department budgets are allocated...
They could abstain tho, which would make it a bit easier for the RETs to get what they want without having a direct hand in it...Don't think the DA will vote to remove Ramaphosa, they'll let them stew in their mess and factional politics. How do you move on from this? the trust is broken. The point of view from Mashatile and the others is very simple, kick them out and having all your opponents on one side and you allies on your side, instead of having what looks like an ally in your camp which might later turn out to be an enemy.
