Yeah well . It is a dolomite area. I added a map above
Hmm ok I can see the petition lol

Gauteng officials urge national disaster declaration for Centurion's sinkhole crisis

Why a national disaster. That area is a dolomite area ...

Also it isnt a DA councillor tabling it . It is a FF+ guy. Didnt they sell out the DA to the ANC ?
Not quite so sure why you are so pissed at the DA. You got what you wanted.
Also dont see what use the petition is . You dont get national disasters declared like that
And if you want it as a local disaster, allocate the budget and fix it ....
See the FF+ rejected the metro budget. The same coalition they are in :D

But John did bed his comrade's wifey...
Yes, and I have made a joke about that here plenty of times, it doesn't mean I expect MPs to do the same while they are being paid to hold Ministers accountable.

I just don't like people who play to the gallery and Lonzi is starting to annoy me like that DA boy.

Can I see the technical report supporting that or is it classified information?
The sources of the holes can be deduced from where they are and how big they are. Leaking water pipes are typically small (my street had 3 in the 90's in short succession and the entire water pipe was replaced from source to endpoint inside 1 year. Rand water pipes and storm water issues are significantly bigger (N1, R21, Clifton avenue). Natural occurring ones are downright huge taking entire buildings with them.

So reading through the discussion's it seems you are correct. The VF councillor did the heavy lifting and the elected DA councillor left as well.

Okay, I thought you had a technical report, but I am happy if that's just your opinion.

I would like to point out to you that Rand Water does not have any asbestos pipes in its network.

On asbestos pipes, which causes frequent pipe bursts, Rand Water does not have any asbestos pipes in its network, but the pipes are in the metros and municipal networks.

You might not realise but Rand Water is a very competent water utility that takes maintenance very seriously, it is alway the municipalities who are found wanting.

It's very easy to dupe South Africans.

Jan Oberholzer was appointed COO of Eskom from 2018 to 2023, a very very dark period for Eskom and South Africa, literally and figuratively.

After Eskom, he is now a Chairman at Mulilo, the very same company that just got awarded big on the IPP contracts.

Appoint X to finish off Eskom > X moves to be Chairman of company Y that stands to benefit and will benefit once Eskom's monopoly is broken > give company Y IPP contracts and they make a killing together with X in limitless profits upon profits. Genius, if it wasn't so obvious from the start.

East Pretoria still has decades old pipes. Some of which do contain asbestos
There was concerted efforts to get them replaced pre 2000.
Some of the bigger ones going to the towers and dams would be in the RW network as far as I know

I see there is discontent that there was nothing in the budget to resolve the decades old piping issue

You are doing it wrong, first adjust your selfie stick so that it captures you best angle and then twiddle your fingers with a serious look on your face as you ask the question.

Nope, not actually...

It might seem insignificant to you, but its a very valid question. Why is government funding these things?

Assume every government employee uses R10 worth of tea/sugar/milk every day that is R13m a day, or R4.8bn a year.
