That is true however unemployment rate is probably best to determine how we are progressing taking into account population growth.
So in 2005 it was 26% while today it is 33% (In both case it was not expanded definition)
In 1994 it was 22%.

Like in Venezuela when determining who are biggest land owners and what is the maximum size you should own those definitions will change with time.
So they rallied people to take land from biggest land owners, after that did not help they lowered land size that you can own.
They went couple iterations until more or less ordinary person is significant land owner.

Same will be with wealth tax, they will start high up, most likely come up that it should only affect people that have or acquired wealth before 1994.
We all know that this will achieve nothing so it will be lowered until guy that earns R30k PM will be considered wealthy.
Then like in zim we will get radio car license of R2k or maybe tax on owning solar or generator like in Nigeria.

I also think there are , but that is an invalid comparison
The better way to look at it is Employment % of total population and that is a sad picture

Why would any come back ?
After gone to the huge amount of trouble and expense , which seems to be overlooked, they are in a far better place

We have a lot of skills here that are seemingly not wanted due to BEE
Why would any foreigner come and be subjected to that

This stat is easily fixed by changing the demographics of people already employed.

Many people do come back, and of course many people leave.

But if I was one of those who left, I wouldn't be lured back by a government pushed campaign, it would only be because I wanted to come back myself for whatever reasons mattered to me.

I know quite a couple who've come back: some couldn't stand the freezing cold (Canada), one couple went to Australia just before Covid and then got stuck there and hated the authoritarian approach and how regulated their lives were. Although I will say most who've gone have not come back.
