He is agitating for disaharmony in the GNU, Cyril fired Nkabane, the DA showed their good faith by dropping the other demands and firing that grootbek Karen who was spreading lies in America.

We move.

"Seek more alliances" is not so subtle code for letting Herman and Mmusi join the GNU. I wonder if the DA has any say in that, since the ANC is ignoring the statement of intent anyway...

Sadly when it comes to the ANC though, it's more than likely not a dud. When one party has more duds than others, I'd start leaning to perhaps that party doesn't have much concern. A lot of the time though, those areas will keep voting for the same dud, I mean we see it in the national government still.

Wanting to be a gatekeeper to who can and who cannot be in the GNU goes against the very spirit of the GNU, the DA did try that before wasting to close the gate on the PA.

So the door of the GNU is always open and the DA will be required to treat any new entrant with respect and make them feel at home.

The ANC want to have their cake and eat it too. Allowing everyone to flit in and out of the GNU allows the ANC to pass all their policies. GNU aligned ones with those in the GNU and their other ones with parties outside of the GNU. Cynical behaviour and not in the spirit of a GNU.

It depends. If your ward councillor is useless, you will probably get insufficient services. If your ward councillor is highly competent, it will probably be the opposite of that. A ward councillor has a significant impact on the ward... that they have been voted into... to counsel... it's literally in the name :ROFL:

DA councillor in our ward is competent. She can't really do much if her party is not governing the city and doesn't get co-operation she wants.

Not about gatekeeping, it's about sticking to a signed agreement. Gatekeeping is what the ANC is doing, by unilaterally taking decisions outside the statement of intent...

The DA can be supported by parties outside the GNU when they don't get their way in the GNU but the ANC cannot?

And the ANC has stuck to the agreement, unless there is another one agreement I don't know about, that's why the DA is still in the GNU.

What's worrying is that it's a year later, and there's no common GNU policy. It seems like the ANC just wants the others to implement their mandate, and some are happy to sell out if it means keeping their blue lights...

When it's the DA government not providing services, it's because the people voted for an ANC councillor, therefore they got what they voted for.

When it's an ANC government not providing services, suddenly things change, the people tried voting for a better future and tgery got a dud.

Maybe the other parties are happy with the current policy and the DA is just outnumbered?
