I am only referring to the poor performance and endemic corruption in the department. The DA were calling for the HOD's head due to the SIU investigating.

Oh, okay, I don't know how to respond to that as I don't know what you are referring to, the DA makes a lot of noise all the time, I don't know if there was a specific finding by the SIU at the time that warranted the HOD's head or exactly on what basis was the HOD's head being demanded.

As for poor performance, we might see things differently and our interpretation could differ on the source of poor performance, the DA that is making a lot of noise often don't fire HOD's when there is poor performance, so it's possible the Premier might have seen things differently at the time, he might have felt the troubles go way deeper than the HoD, I don't know.

I can only speak to what I know that is happening now, it looks like the HoD failed the lifestyle audits and has been suspended based on that.

It is interesting that you find race laws more important that genocide that is happening. You must be racist towards minorities.

Yes indeed, I believe the standard is that as long as the HOD ensures funding flowing the way of the ANC the will never be performance issues.

I am glad that situation is resolved. I was nervous at around 10am and half expected to see Zuma's warriors taking over the country. I did encounter a ferocious Zulu man but he was just a taxi driver so that is ok.

Let's see if you can explain this one, in 2019 the money meant for the Rooiwal water treatment plant disappeared, not a single official was fired by the DA administration.

5 years later in 2024 the officials implicated in the corruption were hauled before a disciplinary hearing and subsequently fired.

In 2025 the officials appealed the ruling and the court ordered them to be reinstated.

Now tell me, if it's so easy to fire officials why does it seem so impossible for the DA?

The legacy foundations have withdrawn from the structures of the Preparatory Task Team and the First National Convention of the National Dialogue scheduled for 15 August 2025.
“This is because we believe that core principles meant to underpin the whole National Dialogue have been violated in the rush to host a gathering on 15 August,” reads a statement.
“We do so not out of apathy or disengagement, but because we remain committed to the belief that all aspects of the National Dialogue must be credible, principled, and anchored in public trust.”
The organisations withdrawing are the Thabo Mbeki Foundation, the Steve Biko Foundation, the Chief Albert Luthuli Foundation, the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation, the FW de Klerk Foundation, the Oliver and Adelaide Tambo Foundation and the Strategic Dialogue Group.

“What began as a citizen-led initiative has, unfortunately, in practice, shifted towards government control. In pushing forward for a Convention on 15 August at the will of government officials and against the advice of the Sub-Committee Chairs, we believe that a critical moment in which citizens should be leading will be undermined. The principles and important nature of being a citizen-led process are being sacrificed for the sake of expediency,” reads the statement.
