Pillock is a hostile commentator and doomsayer.
Whether you like the guy or not, or regardless of Trumpo's true intentions, that 30% tariff isn't exactly good news for SA's economy.

And I highly doubt the ANC-led DIRCO would be able to soften the blow.

No company can take a 30% hit from profits and stay viable
That is a big wad of income that will largely evaporate along with all the jobs that were involved

You do not need to wait for this to commence to see what is going to happen if the letter goes ahead as written
There is a lot of truth on what he is saying.
SA Media has definatly twisted this to suit the ANC needs and definately misled the SA public on what the real status is

EDIT : There is a reason the usual ANC PR brats have been active as hell here and elsewhere. They have a huge ANC picture they have to promote and a massive problem they have to deflect
Notice how one of them is still not even ack'ing the VAT problem and the repercussions to the budget ? That they used illegal ( unconstitutional ) methods to try get their way.

Just liquidated all my cash holdings in SA. INvestment guys are just waiting for notice days to complete before getting approval to move the lot offshore. I liquidated most of my assets here a few months back. I am literally the owner of only 3 cars now:D

Nah , made a decision as a family to get stuff out
Long term view
Still regret all the money put into RA's/prov/pension etc.Locked in place :( Can see what the gov did to the rules to keep that status quo
The property sale was an easy one. Property has stagnating for the last number of years. Doesnt seem to be any change in sight

In today's set of by-elections, we have three seats contested, all of which are DA-held. We begin in Metsimahalo municipality in the Free State, the main settlement of which is Sasolburg. As it is more middle-class than platteland Afrikaners who reside in Sasolburg, this should be a very safe DA hold with no prospect of an FF victory. We then move onto Tshwane where once again, ASA refuses to put up candidates. In Ward 44, the DA should easily hold on. Ward 98 is a bit more marginal with not much separating 2nd-4th place, however, the DA should have enough to hold on here, despite the likely lower turnout possibly working against them.
