The SACP should pack it in. Maybe I'm being too hasty after only 2 by-elections but they are really not attracting much support.
Yeah, Limpopo is a very hostile environment even for the EFF so judging them on the outcome from there is probably harsh. But at the end of the day it doesn't look like they even have a base, if they did they would at least hope to get a few seats from there.

How's work been for everyone these past few months? I'm in a relatively recession-proof trade and business has been bad. Like REALLY bad.

Most of us saw it coming. They overestimated their importance within the alliance, and were probably given more relevance by the ANC than they deserved. They had a good thing going and should have taken what they got. Even Gweezy isn't too fussed that he's been kicked out.

If they contested before the EFF was formed, they would arguably have held most of the RET vote by now...

They were deep in Zuma's pocket back then. I would still give them credit if they could commit to their course and see it through, even if they perform bad in the elections, they have been threatening for far too long.

I doubt you'd see a by-election for a DA held ward because of an assassination and it just be a "normal" thing.
I actually have seen a by election for DA ward because of an assassination, but it wasn't a normal thing, the DA declared a week's mourning period before the by election and the DA voters were wearing black instead of the usual blue as they cast their ballots.

It was a very sombre occasion.

He survived torture in prison? Fsck me.. He served a stint in Modderbee for breaching the state of emergency regulations in 1989 and then a stint in Durban City Prison in 1995 apparently.

I doubt the warders thought he was important enough to torture.

Not a surprise at all. He's all for the showbiz without knuckling down and doing the hard yards.

The minister of sports, arts and culture has left two cultural institutions in the Cape – the Suidoosterfees and the Baxter Theatre – hanging, jeopardising incomes and opportunities for artists.

Worse still, it appears that McKenzie’s office and his department simply ghost any approaches for engagement or explanation while artists are left in financial limbo.

It's getting worse. In a field that could be impacted by the tarrifs. But even with ought that things are going down visibly.
