Wait, ANC's decline is relavant and often referenced to how they will perform in future but DA decline isn't?

In a democracy the best motivation for a party to pull up their socks is fear that they will be punished at the polls if they dont perform. Blank cheques have bred an ANC full of arrogant criminals who only answer to their pockets. See rural provinces and the NW.

Though to be fair to the ANC, perhaps being a governing party just isn't something they can do. They are shoddy even in the way they run their own party.

One day when the DA is not the 2nd biggest party and there is a progressive party in its position, I will have that simple view.

I would never have it on my conscience that I am the generation that opened the door wide for Zille and other anti transformation forces to get into power.

Transformation has done nothing but stagnate and regress economic growth as the comrades loot with even more impunity. It is clear that the Transformation agenda is a self enrichment agenda and get rich quick scheme for the morally suspect. A class that's growing.

In any case, the ANC's loss of votes hasn't gone to the DA. It went to these so called progressive parties like MK.

That DA decline was when Herman conned some whities to vote for him. That's over now that he propped up the ANC and EFF in a coalition that collapsed the city's infrastructure. Those whities are nowhere to be found now, much like the New Dawners, but you can be sure they'll quietly make their way back to the DA.

And that's even ignoring the fact that he's running away from an elective conference and is running a little dictatorship...

By anti transformation agenda, you largely mean better governance and economic growth hey?

Yes, because the ANC has no leadership or any factor that will count in their favour. DA now has a high profile candidate (the 2021 candidate was a nobody and Mashaba in 2016 had no record to speak of - Zille can point to her great running of CT etc). The environment has changed in a positive direction for the DA. This isn't the case for the ANC. Also 2016 was the height of the anti-Zuma sentiment in SA.

The irony of a DA that is dragging a 75 yo from Cape Town to come and be Mayor in Joburg while saying other parties have no leadership...
